WBJEE 2026 Question Paper: Category of Questions
WBJEE divides WBJEE question paper into three categories. Based on category of questions, WBJEE marking scheme along with how candidates can choose their options will be different.

Students will have choice to attempt WBJEE question paper in English or Bengali. Each question will be available in both English and Bengali. Students can choose the one they are comfortable to use. No other language is used for WBJEE.
WBJEE question paper will have three categories. Category 1 and 2 questions will have only one correct option. Category 3 questions may have one or more correct options.

What is WBJEE Marking Scheme?
Since every category of WBJEE questions has different marking scheme, candidates can check details in table given below.

Why is WBJEE 2026 marking scheme important?
- Helps students know which categories they can score more and be prepared for it.
- Since Category III has no negative marking, they can attempt as many questions as they want to without any negative consequences.
- WBJEE sample papers and mock test should be used to get used to marking scheme. These resources are helpful for WBJEE preparation.
- With help of marking scheme, students can prepare carefully for Category I and II questions as negative marking is applicable.
Wrong answers will be negatively marked in WBJEE. Weightage of the negative marking depends on the category of questions. Category I and II questions have negative marking. There is no negative marking for Category III questions.
Total duration of WBJEE is four hours. WBJEE is divided into two papers. 2 hours each will be given for Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). No extra time will be given to complete exam.
WBJEE marking scheme is different according to category of question. The questions are divided into three categories. For Category I and II, there is negative marking, while there is none for Category III questions.
