What are the WBJEE 2026 General Eligibility Criteria?
Some important general WBJEE eligibility criteria given below. Since official criteria for current academic year has not been released yet, candidates can check previous year's eligibility for reference.
- Citizenship: Candidates should be citizens of India or OCI (subject to approval of the Competent Authority). OCI candidates will be eligible for only Unreserved seats in All India Quota.
- Academic Qualificaiton: Should have passed 12th standard (or its equivalent) qualifying examination or appearing in 2026.
- Age Limit: The lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31 of admission year. There is no upper age limit. However, for Marine Engineering admission, upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31 of admission year.
WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2026: Academic Qualifications
Detailed academic qualifications required to be eligible for WBJEE 2026 admissions are given below.
- Candidates should have passed 10+2th class (or equivalent) qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/Biology/Informatics Practices/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
- Should have secured a minimum of 45 percent marks (40 percent marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates) as an aggregate of three subjects in qualifying exam.
- Must have passed in English in 10+2th class (or equivalent) exam with at least 30% marks.
- Qualifying examination board should be recognized by Central or State Government.

Commonly asked questions
If the students appear for just WBJEE Paper 1 (Mathematics), they will not be allotted any rank. These students will not be considered eligible for admissions. For allotment, the students will have to attempt both Paper 1 and 2 of WBJEE.
After the seats are allotted, students will have to pay seat acceptance fee of INR 5000 online to download allotment letter. Next, they will have to report to their respective college for document verification and tuition fee payment.
Candidates who meet the required eligibility criteria are eligible for WBJEE exam. For admission into majority of seats, domicile certificate is a requirement in WBJEE.
There is no official minimum marks required to qualify WBJEE. Candidates will have to meet admission cutoff for higher chances of admission into their preferred college and courses.

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria - Domicile Criteria
Candidates who meet given criteria will be considered as domicile.
a) Residing in the state continuously for a minimum of 10 years as of December 31 of the admission year,or
b) Whose parent(s) is/are a permanent resident of the state with a permanent address
WBJEE exam is open to candidates from all over the country. However, West Bengal Residential/Domicile requirement is applicable for admission to colleges in West Bengal as well as for admission under the reserved category quota.
West Bengal Residential/Domicile requirement is also applicable for candidates applying to the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme through WBJEE.
Candidates will have to produce their domicile certificates at the time of WBJEE 2026 counselling. If the certificate is found invalid, their candidature will be cancelled.
Commonly asked questions
If two or more students have same WBJEE score, then tie breaking guidelines will be followed. Student who has an lesser negative marks in PCM will be given a higher rank. If tie is not broken, then guideline will be followed step by step.
There is no minimum passing mark for WBJEE. However, for admission, candidates should have score minimum 45% marks in 12th qualifying examination (40% for reserved categories).
If authorities are not able to break the tie, then age will be used aslast resort. If the students have the same WBJEE score and the tie breaking guidelines is unable to settle the rank, then the older student will be given a higher rank

Availability of reserved seats shall be restricted to students domiciled in West Bengal only. Reserved category students have to produce a valid certificate issued by the government for admission under the reserved seats.
Seats for admission through JEE Main 2026
Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering courses offered at self-financed engineering and technology colleges in West Bengal can also apply for admission with JEE Main scores. Upto 10% of seats are available for candidates applying for admission through JEE Main. However, allotment of seats to such candidates will be done through the WBJEE counselling process only.
Seats for admission through NATA 2026
Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate architecture courses offered at colleges in West Bengal will have to appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). However, the allotment of seats to such candidates will be done through the WBJEE counselling process only.
How many attempts are allowed for WBJEE?
There is no limit to appear for WBJEE, but students need to follow age criteria. Students must be 17 years as of December of the admission year. Also, there is no upper age limit. Those students who wish to get admission to marine engineering must have attained the age of 17 as of December 31 and not exceed 25 years.

There is no WBJEE qualifying cutoff. Candidates of all ranks can participate in WBJEE counselling. However, admissions will be done based on ranks and eligibility.
WBJEE cutoff is released after every round of counselling is over. No login credentials are required to check cutoff. Official cutoff will be available at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee.
According to previous years' WBJEE cutoff trends, candidates will have to score a rank under 10,000 for admission into courses offered by top government colleges of the state.
WBJEE Registration Last Date 2026
WBJEEB has announced the WBJEE 2026 registration last date. Candidates will have to complete the WBJEE application process by April 5 at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee. After the final date, no applications will be accepted. If they do not submit the online WBJEE application form before last date, they will not be considered as registered for entrance examination. During WBJEE registration, all required details have to be filled, documents uploaded, and fee has to be paid. WBJEEB is not expected to make WBJEE 2026 application form last date with late fee available. Before registration, all candidates have to check the WBJEE eligibility criteria to know if they are eligible or not for the admission process.
