WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has released the official WBJEE eligibility criteria 2025. The list of qualifications that the candidates need to meet for admission into the participating institutes of the state will constitute the eligibility criteria of WBJEE 2025. Before WBJEE 2025 registration, the candidates are advised to carefully check the official eligibility criteria. Ineligible candidates will not be considered for BTech admissions into the WBJEE participating institutes. Some of the factors included in the WBJEE eligibility criteria are the candidate's domicile, academic qualifications, age limit, etc. Candidates have to note that the WBJEE eligibility criteria 2025 may differ for some institutes/Universities. WBJEE 2025 General Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check some of the general WBJEE 2025 eligibility criteria given below.

  • Citizenship: Candidates should be citizens of India or OCI (subject to the approval of the Competent Authority). OCI candidates will be eligible for only Unreserved seats in the All-India Quota.
  • Academic Qualificaiton: Should have passed 12th standard (or its equivalent) qualifying examination before 2025 or appearing in 2025. 
  • Age Limit: The lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31 of the admission year. There is no upper age limit. However, for Marine Engineering admission, the upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31 of the admission year.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Academic Qualifications

The detailed academic qualifications required to be eligible for WBJEE 2025 admissions are listed below.

  • Candidates should have passed the 10+2th standard (or equivalent) qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/Biology/Informatics Practices/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
  • Should have secured a minimum of 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates) as an aggregate of three subjects in the qualifying exam.
  • Must have passed in English in 10+2th standard (or equivalent) exam with at least 30% marks.
  • The qualifying examination board should be recognized by the Central or State Government.

BPharm

  • Candidates must have passed the 10+2th standard (or equivalent) qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks in both theory and practice for all three subjects.
  • Should have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in the case of SC, ST, OBC, PwD) in all three subjects taken together.
  • Must have passed the English subject in the 12th qualifying exam with at least 30% marks.
  • The qualifying examination Board must be recognized by the Central or State Government.

BTech in Marine Engineering

  • Should have passed 10+2th standard (or equivalent) qualifying examination with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths taken together with individual pass marks (both in theory and practical) in each of the subjects
  • Minimum of 50% marks in English as a subject in either in ‘10’ standard or in ‘10+2’ standard.

BArch

  • Must have passed 10+2th standard (or equivalent) qualifying exam with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also secured 50% aggregate marks.
  • Must have appeared for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi

WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria - Domicile Criteria

The candidates who fulfil the following criteria will be considered as domicile.

a) Residing in the state continuously for a minimum of 10 years as of December 31 of the admission year,or

b) Whose parent(s) is/are a permanent resident of the state with a permanent address

Q:   How many attempts are allowed for WBJEE?
A:

WBJEE is held as a one-day examination. The authorities conduct WBJEE annually to select candidates for BTech admissions into the participating institutes. The entrance examination is held once in a year and the candidates will not be given a second chance in the same year. If the candidates are not able to apply for WBJEE or have not secured the required scores, then they can apply for the entrance examination next year. The authorities will not accept any requests for change of WBJEE exam dates. 

Q:   How can I select the WBJEE exam centre?
A:

Candidates will be able to select their choice of WBJEE exam centres online while filling out the application form. During the form filling process, the candidates will have to select and submit three preferred WBJEE exam zones. The selection of the zones have to be done in the order of preference. The authorities will allot WBJEE exam centres as per the candidate's preference and the corresponding availability. In case the candidate's first preference is not available, then the second choice will be considered. 

Q:   Will the WBJEE merit list be available online?
A:

WBJEE merit list will not be released online. The authorities will prepare the merit list of WBJEE on the basis of the candidate's obtained scores in the entrance examination. WBJEE merit list is prepared to be used for the counselling and admission process. Based on the merit list, the candidates will be allotted ranks and will be selected for the WBJEE counselling. It is to be noted that the merit list will different as per the course and category selected by the candidates.

The WBJEE exam is open to candidates from all over the country. However, the West Bengal Residential/Domicile requirement is applicable for admission to colleges in West Bengal as well as for admission under the reserved category quota.

The West Bengal Residential/Domicile requirement is also applicable for candidates applying to the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme through WBJEE.

Candidates will have to produce their domicile certificates at the time of WBJEE 2025 counselling. If the certificate is found invalid, their candidature will be cancelled. 

WBJEE 2025 Seat Reservation

As per the Government of India, the following categories will be considered for admission in West Bengal through WBJEE:

Availability of reserved seats shall be restricted to students domiciled in West Bengal only. Reserved category students have to produce a valid certificate issued by the government for admission under the reserved seats.

Q:   What is the TFW category? Can I apply for the TFW category?
A:

Tuition Fee Waiver known, as TFW, is a special category. Candidates who want to apply under the WBJEE TFW category will have to upload an Income Certificate. If they meet the eligibility criteria, then the candidates will be eligible for Tuition Fee Waiver. As per AICTE guidelines, vacant seats under the TFW category will not be converted to the General/unreserved category.

Q:   Can I appear for just WBJEE Paper 1? Will I be allotted a rank?
A:

Candidates will be able to appear for just Paper 1 of WBJEE. However, these candidates will not be allotted ranks for admission by the authorities. Therefore, the candidates are advised to attempt both papers of WBJEE - Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). The authorities will conduct WBJEE paper as a computer-based test. 

Q:   Are candidates older in age preferred for WBJEE rank allotment?
A:

During the tie-breaking system, the authorities will follow the guidelines specified officially. If all of the guidelines in the given order fail to break the tie, then finally, the candidate older in age will be given a higher rank than the candidate who is younger.

Seats for admission through JEE Main 2025

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering courses offered at self-financed engineering and technology colleges in West Bengal can also apply for admission with JEE Main scores. 10-50% of seats are available for candidates applying for admission through JEE Main. However, allotment of seats to such candidates will be done through the WBJEE counselling process only.

Seats for admission through NATA 2025

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate architecture courses offered at colleges in West Bengal will have to appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). However, the allotment of seats to such candidates will be done through the WBJEE counselling process only.

How many attempts are allowed for WBJEE?

There is no limit to appear for WBJEE, but students need to follow age criteria. Students must be 17 years as of December 21. Also, there is no upper age limit. Those students who wish to get admission to marine engineering must have attained the age of 17 as of December 31 and not exceed 25 years.

WBJEE cutoff will vary for the different colleges, courses and categories. Reserved category students are expected to have a lower cutoff than General students. Likewise, popular colleges and courses will have higher cutoffs due to the number of students applying for admission.

No, the students who meet the WBJEE cutoff will not be guaranteed admission. However, they will have higher chances of admission into their preferences. Since other factors will also be considered for allotment, the cutoff cannot be used as a guarantee for admission.
