Digital Globalisation has brought a great change in the marketing industry and more and more firms are relying on digital media platforms for the promotion of their products. Sales and Marketing play a massive role in making the product of any company a hit, besides establishing a brand value for it.
The more the product reaches the masses, the more it is likely to gain popularity. Students interested in joining the Sales and Marketing industry can pursue various types of courses offered by colleges at undergraduate, postgraduate, Doctorate, and Certification levels. Also, many colleges are offering four-year Integrated programme (BBA+MBA) in Sales and Marketing. Integrated programme not only save one year of the students, but also provides them with all the necessary information and expertise required in the actual work field. Eligibility: To take admission to undergraduate courses, the students must have completed their 10+2 examination in any stream with aggregate 60 per cent marks from a recognised board. The criteria for SC/ST/OBC students are, however, 55 per cent. Admission to a master’s degree programme requires students to have completed their bachelor’s degree in any stream with 50 per cent marks. Final year students can also apply to this course. Some colleges also consider the score of entrance exams to provide admission to the students in various courses in Sales and Marketing.
Type of Courses: Desirous students can pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) to gain knowledge about the sales and marketing industry. Later, they can do MBA, Integrated programme (BBA+MBA) or PhD in the stream for further specialisation. Working professionals also have the option to pursue six-month certification courses in Sales and Digital Marketing. These professional courses will help them in enhancing their career growth prospects in the industry.
Scope: Marketing is an age-old concept. It is very important for any company or brand to sell and promote its product or services. The change in technology and growing use of the internet has changed the methods of marketing. Almost every company relies on digital marketing methods nowadays to make its product successful and popular. It helps increase the sales of the product and ultimately the revenue. Curriculum: BBA in Sales and Marketing is a three-year programme that can be pursued after 10+2, while an MBA degree is a two-year duration programme done after graduation. Sales and Marketing Entrance Exams
Students can only ensure admission to management courses after appearing in the below-mentioned entrance tests:
- CAT: The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national scale management aptitude test that candidates must pass in order to be admitted to MBA programmes at 20 IIMs and over 1,200 B-schools in India. Every year, over two lakh applicants apply for the CAT exam, which is held in computer-based manner for two hours.
- CMAT: The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a three-hour business aptitude test administered by the National Testing Agency for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes. The CMAT is one of India's most popular MBA entry tests. Every year, over 70,000 people apply for it.
- XAT: The XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) is a national-level management entry exam held by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes. In addition to XLRI and ten other XAMI affiliated institutes, approximately 1,000 B-schools take XAT scores for admission to their post-graduate management programmes.
- SET: Symbiosis International (Deemed University) administers the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) for admission to Symbiosis institutes. The SET exam serves as a doorway to undergraduate programmes in Management, Law, Engineering, Economics, Mass Communication, Computer Studies, and Liberal Arts.
- MAT: The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level entrance exam for MBA/PGDM admissions administered by the All India Management Association (AIMA). The exam is administered four times a year, in February, May, September, and December.
