In order to get admission into BTech programme of IIT (BHU), a candidate should have passed Class12 with a minimum of 75 percent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. As part of the admission procedure, the prospective candidates must also take a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). MTech programme at IIT BHU Varanasi is one of the most popular programmes offered by the institution. It is a two year course and it is split in four semesters. The process of admission into any of the MTech programmes in IIT Varanasi depends on the performance of the candidates in Graduate Aptitude Test in engineering (GATE) exam. The individuals who have scored at least equal to or more than the cutoff mentioned, are also necessary to undergo through a counseling session as a part of the admission process.
The application fee for the Master of Technology course at IIT Varanasi is similar to the application fee for GATE. This year, the application fee for the GATE goes slighltly higher. See the following columns for the updated fee:

IIT Varanasi Cutoff 2024 for admission to BTech/Integrated BTech/BArch courses was concluded. The IIT Varanasi Cutoff 2024 was released throughout 6 rounds, for different categories under the AI quota. Among the General AI category candidates, the Cutoff ranks across multiple specialisations closed at a range of 1071 and 22390. Among the OBC AI category, the Cutoff closed at a range of 524 and 8177.

The hostel fee at IIT BHU is INR 300 per semester. This fee does not include electricity charges, Gymkhana, Medical, Amenities and other hostel services. A total of INR 5,000 (approx.) needs to be submitted during the admission to get a hostel and other facilities. The institute has 16 hostels for boys and girls separately.
For admission to BTech at IIT BHU, candidates must appear for the JEE Main and paticipate in the JoSAA counselling process. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes, including IITs, JoSAA3 IIITs, and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). To apply at JoSAA, candidates must register and apply via the JoSAA official website. The counselling has an application fee, which must be paid while submitting the form. The candidates need to pay the seat acceptance fee as per the fee details given in the table below:

IIT Varanasi gives no. of BTech specialisations, likewise, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutics Engineering & Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, etc. Eligibility for UG engineering admission at IIT Varanasi depends on meeting the criteria for JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
IIT Varanasi JAM Cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 2. The most competitive course was M.Sc in Chemistry, with the Cutoff of 387, for the General AI category candidates. For the OBC AI category candidates, the Cutoff for M.Sc in Chemistry was 663.
If not eligible for IIT Varanasi, candidates can opt for IIT Gandhinagar with a linient cutoff of 404, for M.Sc in Chemistry, for the General AI category candidates.
GATE qualifying cutoff is institute eligibility cutoff, and on other hand, GATE admission cutoff ensures a call for admission at IITs, NITs, IITs, and CFTIs. Check below in detail:
GATE Qualifying Cutoff: It is minimum mark a candidate must score so that he or she is eligible for admission. But this does not mean that a candidate is selected for admission. Actually, it is fixed before announcement of GATE results. It is announced by conducting IIT and available on GOAPS. It includes qualifying marks for each paper.
Admission GATE Cutoffs: It is final opening and closing rank score fixed by participating institutes for selection of candidates. It is to be noted here that meeting admission GATE cutoff does not mean that candidates will be selected for admission. It is fixed after GATE result date. It is declared by individual participating institutes and available on their respective counselling portals (CCMT/ COAP).
IIT BHU has officially released the Round 1 cutoff ranks for MSc admissions through IIT JAM 2025, and the figures show a steady year-on-year change in the Chemistry program. The closing rank for General (All India) category candidates in MSc Chemistry was 453 in 2023, followed by a slightly lower cutoff of 387 in 2024. Now, considering the IIT BHU cutoff 2025, the MSc in chemistry cutoff stood at 308 for the General AI category candidates. This means that candidates with a JAM 2025 rank up to 308 were offered seats in the first round for MSc Chemistry at IIT BHU. But, candidates can wait for the next round to come; it may decrease in the upcoming rounds. For 2023, the cut-off was 10232 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Civil Engineering in IIT BHU, Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates in the general category under the All India quota, 16396 was the closing rank. BTech cut-off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.
The syllabus for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main examination is medium in the level of difficulty.
