IIT Madras Admission Process 2025
Indian Institute of Technology Madras also known as IITM offers the programmes through regular and full-time modes. Students are offered over ten programmes spanning multiple specialisations. Step 1: IIT Madras Application Process

IIT Madras NIRF Student Demographics Report 2024
As per the IIT Madras Student Diversity Report 2023-2024, 3,440 students have enrolled in the BTech (UG 4-year course) and 1,469 in the UG 5-year programme. It has been observed that female participation was 20% in UG 4-year and 18% in UG 5-year courses. For PG programs, 1,695 students preferred the PG 2-year course, while 519 and 274 enrolled for the PG 5-year and 3-year programmes, respectively. Female enrollment peaked at 61% in PG 5-year courses, with 48 international students in PG 2-year and 7 in PG 3-year courses.
Gender Overview:
- The BTech course has a higher intake amongst female students, which is 20% in comparison to the UG 5-year course, i.e, 18%. A total of 16% enrolled for the PG 3-year course and 15% enrolled for the PG 2-year course.

IIT Madras Application Process 2025
IIT Madras admission to UG & PG courses is based on national-level entrance exams, candidates need to visit the official website of various conducting bodies to fill out the application form and pay the required application fee online.
- For BTech, candidates must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in). The application fee for boys is INR 625 and INR 325 for girls. Read more about JEE Main Application Process 2025

Note: For MTech, the qualifying candidates have to further apply for COAP and then apply on the official website of IIT Madras to proceed to confirm their admission.

IIT Madras applications are strictly based on the registrations of various national-level entrance exams that are accepted for admission. Candidates are required to visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam/ conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. - The admission brochure, admission pamphlet and prospectus can be downloaded from this page. Click on ‘Apply Now’ button to proceed further.
- Fill out the application form with all the mandatory details, including guardian info, address of communication, qualifications, etc.
- Upload all the required documents in PDF format. Also, upload a passport-size photograph and signature and JPG/ JPEG format.
- Conclude the application process by paying an application fee using a debit card/ credit card/ net banking.
To apply for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates need JEE Main 2025 application number and password. This means only the candidates who qualify JEE Main for JEE Advanced, cand apply. Candidates have to login on the JEE Advanced application portal with JEE Main 2025 application number and password. Candidates have to furnish some details in the registration form. JEE Main details in the form will be prefilled from the JEE Main 2025 database. Next candidates need to enter the scanned documents as per the specifications. Then as the last step, candidates have to remit the application fee as applicable. This complete the JEE Advanced application process.
The application fees for JEE Main is
- INR 1,000 (Male unreserved/OBC/EWS category)
- INR 800 (Female unreserved/OBC/EWS category)
- INR 500 (SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category)
Candidates have the option of paying the application fee online through credit/debit card and internet banking. The application form will not be considered submitted until the application fees is paid. Once the application fee are paid, candidates receive a confirmation email at their registered email address confirming the payment of fees.

For IIT Madras MSc admission, candidates need to apply online via IIT JAM. After successful registration, candidates are then required to appear for the entrance exam. Selected candidates are then called for the counselling round as a final selection round. IIT JAM registration window for IIT Madras MSc admission 2023 is now closed.
