IIT Dhanbad accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to BTech/Integrated BTech/BS/Integrated BS. The cutoff was released for different categories belonging to the All India quota. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates was closed between the range of 3846 and 16011. Therefore, the highest cutoff rank for admission among the General AI category was 16011, which was admission to Integrated B.Tech. + M.Sc.Tech. in Applied Geology.

Candidates who have passed UG degree in relevan subjects in Arts/ Humanities/ Social Sciences/ Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Commerce/ Management with at least 60% aggregate or CGPA/ CPI of 6.0 (55% aggregate or CGPA/ CPI of 5.0 for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) can apply for MA programme at IIT Dhanbad.

General MBA: Graduates in any discipline with first class or having 60% marks or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10 (55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 for SC/ ST/ PwD) are eligible to apply.

MBA in Business Analytics:  Candidates with BTech/ BE degree in any discipline from a recognised university/ institute with at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.0 out of 10 CGPA (55% marks in aggregate or 5.5 CGPA out of 10 in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD (Differently Abled Categories) will be eligible for the programme.

IIT Dhanbad has a total seat intake of 596 which is divided into all 16 specialisations of the course. The seat intake of some popular specialisations are Chemical Engineering (27), CSE (50), Civil Engineering (32), Management Studies (40), etc. After CCMT counselling, seat allotment is carried out as per the seat intake for each M.Tech specialisation.

The NTA has released the exam dates for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Paper 1 (BE/ BTech) will be administered between April 2, 2026 to April 9, 2026.
