Scroll down and read the complete interview to know more about the UCEED test and inculcate helpful tips in your preparation.

Q.Congratulations Vansh! Were you expecting such a good result in UCEED 2022?

A.Honestly, I was not expecting this result because some of the numerical-based questions during the UCEED 2022 exam were looking hard. I started solving the paper from the end.

Q.What is your score in UCEED 2022?

A.My total UCEED 2022 score was 182.16 which got me the AIR 1 in the SC category & AIR 50 in the open category.

Q.When did you start your preparation for UCEED 2022?

A.I was very interested in the design field from the beginning. I came to know about the UCEED exam at the end of 2020. I specifically started my UCEED preparations in SEPTEMBER 2021.

Q.How much time is enough to prepare for UCEED?

A.It totally depends from person to person. I was into scholarship tests and other competitive exams from the time of schooling, so I knew how to solve reasoning and logical question. I also do sketching on daily basis. So, candidates must start practising relevant design topics as soon as possible.

Q.Take us through your exam preparation routine, day-to-day activities, study hours, etc.

A.Till the mid of September 2021, I was pretty chilled and doing my own sort of regular studies, sketching and practising questions. But from October 2021 to December 2021, I started giving more time specifically for UCEED preparations. I was in SILICA and used to solve previous year's exam papers, UCEED mock tests and design sample papers. But I never forgot to take mandatory breaks to freshen up my mind. I used to do SKETCHING BEFORE SLEEPING” (kind of my practice mantra to awaken my design muscles).

Q.Did you face any challenges during your preparation and how did you overcome them?

A.I was facing difficulty in creating real human figures. Then my SIR told me to go outside in the supermarket and draw as many customers as I can. And that’s how I understood the meaning of real live drawing. In this way, one understands volume, shapes and other drawing technicalities better.

Q.How can one prepare for the sketching section of UCEED?

A. I would say that sketching is not a one-night thing. It has to be practised daily. And one must try LIVE SKETCHING to understand the depth of the process.

Q.Suggest some books to prepare for the exam.

A.I never used any specific book but my batchmates used to study “Figure Study Made Easy by Aditya Chari”. I referred to SILICA GAT blue books and used to take references from Pinterest and my favourite movies for drawing practices.

Q.What are the important topics one needs to focus on?

A.During the UCEED preparation and even in the exam, I noticed a lot of pattern-based and pictorial questions. There were questions related to 2D & 3D forms. So, one can practise them more.

Q.How important is solving sample papers and taking mocks?

A. These are very, very important. I used to practise a lot of UCEED mock tests.

Q.How difficult is UCEED? How would you compare it to other entrance exams like NIFT and NID?

A.UCEED is obviously difficult to crack. It majorly covers a good number of logical ability and reasoning questions. While NIFT & NID has more drawing-based and general questions.

Q.Give us a glimpse of your exam-day experience.

A.Initially, I was very confident. But some parts of the numerical section got me nervous. However, I always keep toffees during my exams to keep my sugar level in control and my mind functioning. And I managed to complete my UCEED paper.

Q.Any word of advice for future aspirants?

A.I’ll recommend practising every day is very important. If students take a long gap, the flow of preparation gets affected. One must take small breaks but should not stop practising.
