CTET Syllabus 2026: The CTET 21st Edition exam was conducted on February 7 & 8, 2026. Syllabus plays an important role in the preparation. Candidates should check once the syllabus properly. They will come to know about the topics that have been covered or are being left for the examination to prepare. Along with the syllabus CTET exam pattern is also equal important. The CTET 2026 syllabus provides a holistic approach towards the preparation.

It consists of detailed topics to be covered in both Papers namely Paper 1 and 2. The Central Eligibility Test is conducted twice every year. The exam is divided into 2 papers. Paper 1 is for the candidates who are aiming to teach Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for classes 6 to 8. It is the right time for candidates to begin their CTET preparations. CTET Syllabus 2026: Overview of Exam Structure

The foundation for CTET exam preparation is knowing the question paper pattern and syllabus. The CTET 2026 syllabus informs the candidates about the topics they need to prepare for the exam. CTET Paper 1 Syllabus 2026: Overview

The CTET exam is conducted offline. It CTET Paper 1 consists of 5 sections namely Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics and Environmental Studies. The duration of the exam is 150 minutes or 2.5 hours. Total number of questions asked are 150. Objective based questions are asked in the based. Each question carries one mark. Therefore, one mark is awarded for each correct answer and there is no negative marking. That is no marks are deducted for wrong answer. The language of the paper is English and Hindi. Candidates need to choose different language for CTET Language I and Language II sections. The CBSE provides a list of 20 languages from which the candidates can choose the language.

The CTET mock test cannot be downloaded, however, can be attempted online. The Shiksha-curated mock tests are available separately for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Q:   What are the qualifying marks for CTET exam?

The CTET qualifying marks are different for different categories. General category candidates need to obtain a minimum of 60 per cent or above marks in the CTET 2025 exam in order to be considered as a CTET pass. The CTET passing marks for OBC/SC/ST category candidates are 55 per cent. Candidates scoring more than or equal to the qualifying marks are considered CTET qualified. Only those candidates are awarded the CTET Certificate those who secure the minimum qualifying marks. However, a higher CTET score is advantageous in the further teacher recruitment process.

Candidates can prepare for CTET in ten days by practicing more through previous years papers and mock tests. Attempt at least two CTET question papers daily in the last one week of the exam.

Though NCERT books are good for understanding the basic concepts of the CTET syllabus, there are other best books available for CTET exam preparation as well. Apart from studying NCERT books, candidates should refer other CTET best books and previous years' papers books to boost their exam preparations.
Q:   How many attempts are there in CTET?

There is no limit on the number of attempts in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, as per the exam notification.

Q:   Is coaching necessary for the CTET exam?

No, coaching is not necessary for the CTET exam. Candidates can prepare well through self studies. One needs to cover the syllabus, solve previous year question papers and mock tests to clear the exam.

Q:   Which subject holds maximum weightage in CTET exam?
A: 
Almost all the sections of the CTET exam hold equal weightage. In CTET Paper 1, all subjects including Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics and Environmental Studies hold equal weightage. However, in CTET Paper 2, the Mathematics & Science and Social Studies/Social Science section holds maximum weightage of 60 marks.
