The Central Board of Secondary Education released the CTET 2026 September session notification PDF on May 11 at ctet.nic.in. The application window is also opened. The last date to apply is June 10. The CTET 2026 Exam

CTET 2026 September Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the CTET 2026 notification for the September session on the official website at ctet.nic.in on May 11. The CTET application form 2026 link is also activated until June 10. The last date for the fee payment is also June 10 (Before11:59 PM). The CTET exam is scheduled to be conducted on September 6 in two shifts on single day. But as per the official notice, in case number of candidates increases, the exam may also be conducted on September 5, 2026. Candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria properly before applying for the CTET exam. The CTET notification PDF in the form of information bulletin has released. Candidates ae required to fulfill the prescribed CTET eligibility criteria 2026, including the age limit and educational qualification, to apply for the exam. 

The CTET Result 2026 for the February session was announced on March 30. The provisional answer key for the CTET exam was released on March 12 and the last date to raise an objection was March 15. The CTET 21st Edition exam was held on February 7 and 8, 2026. The last date for CTET application completion was December 30. The notification and application form for the CTET February 2026 exam were released on November 27.

Q:   What are CTET passing marks for the SC and ST categories?
A: 
The CTET passing marks for the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories is 55 per cent. The SSC & ST categories candidates need to obtain 82 out of the total 150 marks to qualify the exam and obtain the eligibility Certificate.
Q:   What are the qualifying marks for CTET exam?
A: 

The CTET qualifying marks are different for different categories. General category candidates need to obtain a minimum of 60 per cent or above marks in the CTET 2025 exam in order to be considered as a CTET pass. The CTET passing marks for OBC/SC/ST category candidates are 55 per cent. Candidates scoring more than or equal to the qualifying marks are considered CTET qualified. Only those candidates are awarded the CTET Certificate those who secure the minimum qualifying marks. However, a higher CTET score is advantageous in the further teacher recruitment process.

Q:   Is CTET certificate available on DigiLocker?
A: 

Yes, the CTET certificate is available on the DigiLocker platform. The CTET certificate and marksheet are made available on the DigiLocker app and platform after the declaration of results. Candidates can get their certificates using the credentials sent to them by the CBSE on their registered mobile numbers.

Q:   How many attempts are there in CTET?
A: 

There is no limit on the number of attempts in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, as per the exam notification.

A: 
The CTET qualifying marks for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category is 55 per cent. OBC candidates need to obtain 82 marks out of the total 150 marks to qualify the exam. A 81 mark scorer OBC candidate will fail to clear the exam.

Q:   Is CTET valid for lifetime?
A: 

The CTET exam is valid for life time. Earlier, the CTET eligibility Certificate was valid for a period of seven years starting from the date of declaration of result. However, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and CBSE officially extended the CTET passing Certificate validity to lifetime. Candidates need to fulfil the age limit criteria fixed by the respective teacher recruiting body such as NVS, KVS or others. Therefore, candidates can apply for the teaching jobs after qualifying the Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET however, they must fall within the age limit defined by the respective agency.

Q:   Does CTET mark matter?
A: 
Yes, the CTET marks matter in terms of qualification. Candidates need to obtain the qualifying CTET marks to clear the exam and obtain the eligibility Certificate. Only those candidates are awarded the CTET Certificate who pass the CTET exam by obtaining the minimum qualifying marks.
Q:   What are CTET qualifying marks for the General category?
A: 
General category candidates need to obtain 90 out of 150 marks to pass the CTET exam. The CTET qualifying percentage is 60 per cent for the General category. The General or your category need to obtain 90 or above marks to obtain the eligibility Certificate. A 89 mark scorer also will be declared disqualified in the exam process.
Q:   What is the CTET cut off?
A: 

CTET cut off is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to obtain in order to clear the exam. The CTET exam is qualifying in nature and candidates only need to obtain the passing marks to obtain the eligibility Certificate. General category candidates need to obtain 60 per cent marks and reserved categories need to obtain 55 per cent to pass the CTET examination.

CTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the CTET-NCTE prescribed eligibility criteria to appear for the exam. The CTET eligibility in terms of education qualification and age limit is shared below-

CTET Eligibility 2026: Paper 1

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the given criteria for CTET Paper 1.

  • Senior Secondary or its equivalent exam with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and cleared or appearing in final year exam of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration) OR Bachelor of Elementary Education (4 years duration) OR Diploma in Education (2 years duration). OR
  • Senior Secondary or its equivalent exam, securing a minimum of 45 per cent marks and cleared or appearing in the final year exam of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration). OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with a BEd.

CTET Eligibility 2026: Paper 2

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the given eligibility for CTET Paper 2.

  • Graduation and has passed or is appearing in the final year examination of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration) OR
  • Graduation with 50 per cent marks with BEd. OR
  • Graduation with 40 per cent marks and has cleared or appearing in the final year exam of BEd, according to NCTE regulations. OR
  • Senior Secondary or its equivalent test with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and has cleared or appearing in final year exam of 4 years duration Bachelor of Elementary Education/ B.A.Ed/ B.Sc.Ed or B.A/ B.Sc.Ed.

CTET 2026 Preparation

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will release the CTET result 2026 for the September session on the official website at ctet.nic.in. A direct link will also be provided below. Candidates will be required their login credentials to download the result including the roll number. The CTET certificate and marksheet 2026 of qualified candidates will be made available on the DigiLocker platform shortly. The CBSE releases both documents on the DigiLocker and UMANG platforms. 

As per the official notice, the marksheet and qualifying certificate of the candidates will also be uploaded in digilocker shortly. The candidates may download it by using their mobile number provided by them in their online application form of CTET September 2026.
