Tips for time management in CLAT 2026

Here are some key tips to practice time management for your upcoming exam:

Define time needed for each section: One can be good in reasoning, while the other excels in General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Only a candidate knows his own strengths, therefore, while managing time for the CLAT 2026 exam, they must consider it. As CLAT Question Paper has more passage-based questions, this means candidates must be exceptionally good in reading and comprehension. Therefore, they need to:

  • Read and Comprehend passages on regular basis
  • Improve vocabulary
  • Must prepare important grammar topics from CLAT syllabus like Speech, Voice, Tones, Clauses, Synonyms, Antonyms etc.

This will help candidates in all five sections of CLAT 2025 question paper.

Also read:

Keep practising: When there are only a few days left for the exam, candidates should keep practising for CLAT 2026 to score well in the paper. Candidates need to practice as many mock tests for CLAT as possible.

  • There are many additional resources provided to candidates in their CLAT 2026 applicant account that will be most appropriate in the remaining days.
  • Only thing to keep in mind is - practice only for a duration of two hours, as per the real-time.
  • CLAT mock tests are timed accordingly, so that candidates can manage to solve questions within the given duration only.

Devote time based on weightage: One of the most important things to keep in mind is the sectional weightage for the CLAT 2026 question paper. A candidate has to define the time for a particular section based on the weightage the section holds. Therefore, it can be understood that:

  • Current Affairs and Legal Reasoning hold the highest weightage with 35-39 questions
  • English and Logical Reasoning follow the sections with 28-32 questions
  • Whereas, Quantitative Techniques is the lowest weightage section with 13-17 questions

Now, candidates need to prioritise their time management for CLAT 2026 accordingly. However, it can also be decided based on a candidate's strengths and weaknesses among the sections.

Analyse past year papers - Every year the number of questions asked in each section is expected to be different; however, it is according to approximate weightage as indicated in the exam pattern. Therefore, candidates can only assume the actual weightage for each section in CLAT 2026 question paper. Let's take a look at the past three years' weightage for CLAT question papers:

Sections

Questions in 2025

Questions in 2024

Questions in 2023

English Language

Current Affairs including General Knowledge

Legal Reasoning

29 questions 29 questions 29 questions

Quantitative Techniques (Elementry Mathematics up to Class 10)

14 questions 14 questions 14 questions

From the above analysis, one can predict that the same pattern will be followed in CLAT 2025, therefore, they can decide time for each section accordingly.

Many students feel the AILET exam is a bit tougher than CLAT because it has fewer seats and high competition. The AILET syllabus focuses more on reasoning and legal aptitude. Both tests need good preparation, but AILET 2027 usually has a higher cutoff for AILET colleges under NLU Delhi.

No. Since IIULER has officially joined the Consortium of NLUs, it no longer conducts a separate entrance test for admission to IIULER BA LLB (Hons.) course. Admission is strictly based on the CLAT (UG) merit list. If you miss the CLAT window, you generally cannot apply for that academic year.
