NLUs have formed a Consortium to conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) every year to select the candidates for the courses offered by NLUs. They offer the 5-year and 1-year Law Courses. The NLUs are dream institutions for candidates who want to pursue a career in law. The CLAT 2027 registrations started on August 3 and the last date to apply for the Common Law Admission Test 2027 is November 7. Candidates can complete their CLAT 2027 registration and compete in the CLAT exam.
The Ministry of Education releases the NIRF ranking of the Law institutions of the nation. Most of the NLUs always remain in the top 20 list. The NLU NIRF ranking 2026 will be released soon. The Consortium released the exam schedule on its official portal on July 22. As per the official exam calendar, the CLAT 2027 exam date is December 6, 2026.
On the contrary to current trends, the CLAT will be held offline in pen-and-paper mode across the nation. This year, candidates need not to fill their NLU preference in the initial application form; instead, the NLU preference order will be asked at the time of the CLAT Counselling process.

NIRF Law Ranking 2025: NLUs Position
The Ministry of Education releases the NIRF Ranking for all colleges every year.
The NIRF ranking 2026 is not yet released. The data will be submitted by February and the new list will be out somewhere between June and November 2026.

What after CLAT 2026 Seat Allotment Result - Counselling Process
All candidates will be allotted seat through these steps
Accept the seat: This option is used by candidates to confirm their choice of NLU. Once the lock option is used, a candidate's seat at the allotted NLU is freezed. Thereafter, the candidate need not participate in further seat allotment rounds and complete the remaining admission formalities (mentioned below).
Apply for Upgrade: This option is used when candidates want to change the allotted institute to their higher choice (upward shifting). Candidates choosing upgrade are considered active participants, therefore, they too need to complete the remaining admission formalities (mentioned below).
Exit from seat allotment: Candidates can exit from the counselling process if they do not wish to continue.
Completing admission formalities
If a candidate accepts the allotted seat or apply for upgrade, they need to upload all the prescribed documents on the official website for verification. Thereafter, they also need to pay the remaining admission fee to the allotted NLU.

Yes, for some of them. Bahra lists scholarships based on JEE Main marks and CLAT rank, along with BUSET, CAT, MAT, and CUET percentile scores. I am not sure about NEET, so confirm that with the admissions office.

No you don't need to memorise every section. Focus on important concepts key provisions definitions and CLAT style application questions. Understanding legal principles is more important than memorising section numbers.
