CMAT Score vs Percentile 2025 - To make the right decision about choosing an MBA college through CMAT score, aspirants must know the key elements of scoring and result preparation process. CMAT exam is held in 2 slots and results of all candidates are calculated on the same parameter. However, the difficulty level on both exam slots is different from each other. Therefore, there can be difference in assessment of candidates' performance. To assess performance in the CMAT exam and estimate a percentile score, one needs to know two things -

To understand CMAT 2025 score vs percentile, we need to first understand the process of CMAT score calculation. CMAT score is the sum total of marks obtained by the candidate in each section of the CMAT question paper. Candidates are given marks in each section separately which are then totalled to arrive at CMAT Total Score (out of 400).
CMAT score is calculated by giving marks to candidates as per their response to questions. Given below is the marking scheme of CMAT exam:
The CMAT 2025 question paper had 100 questions, equally divided into five sections. Total marks was 400. Take a look at CMAT marking scheme below basis which CMAT calculator is used.

CMAT ranks are allotted on the basis of marks scored by a candidate. The candidate who scores maximum marks out of 400 among all CMAT test taker, he/she secures All India Rank 1. For example, if A candidate scored 341/400, he was declared AIR 1. In another year, B candidates scored 350/400 so he was ranked on top.
In case more than one candidate secures the same marks, the same rank is assigned to all of them but are displayed in the CMAT rank list by sorting their names alphabetically. For example last year, the candidate who was ranked AIR 1 scored 341/400. Two candidates scored 335/400 and they were ranked AIR 2. The rank of the subsequent candidate is then extended by the number of additional students having the same rank. Eg: if three students get 25th Rank then the subsequent candidate will be ranked as 28th.

CMAT percentile is calculated on the basis of the rank of the student vs number of students who appeared in CMAT. For this, the formula given below is applied:
CMAT Percentile, calculator formula prescribed by NTA is given below:
Percentile P = 100 x Number of candidates appeared in the examination with raw marks equal to or less than the candidate/Total number of candidates appeared
For example, suppose 10,000 candidates appeared in CMAT exam. And candidate A has got No.1 Rank. His CMAT percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99
You can also calculate the rank with the below given CMAT percentile calculator formula:
Percentile (P)= 10,000 – 1(rank)/10,000 x 100= 99.99.
Similarly, if a person has scored rank 3, his/her percentile will be 99.97.
For example, one candidate scored 100 percentile out of 54,516 candidates who appeared in the exam. Five candidates scored 99.99 percentile. One student scored 372 marks in total to obtain 100 percentile.
Another example: In one session, three candidates scored 100 percentile out of 64,448. On candidate secured AIR 1 with 341 marks. Two other candidates scored 335 marks so they were ranked AIR 2. However, the CMAT percentile score of all the three was 100, which means CMAT ranks are based on total score obtained and not the percentile score.

Meeting CMAT cut off is the first stage of MBA admission. Candidates need to clear the Personal Interview/Group Discussion/Written Ability Test round too. Some institutes conduct only Personal Interview, some conduct Personal Interview/Group Discussion and some conduct all three, Personal Interview/Group Discussion/Written Ability Test. Apart from that, candidates must also meet the academic criteria for selection.
It is quite unlikely that you can get admission if you do not meet the academic eligibility criteria for MBA. The basic criteria of selection are CMAT score and academic score. As per the AICTE, the minimum score required in graduation to qualify for MBA programme is 50 % (for SC/ST/PwD category, the minimum score requirement is 45%. CMAT 2026 admit card will be released 4-5 days before the exam. Since CMAT 2026 is scheduled on January 25, the admit card can be expected to be released by January 20, 2026. NTA has not announced any date for CMAT 2026 hall ticket release, though.

There is no provision of result evaluation in CMAT. The scores mentioned on result will be final and cannot be challenged. Candidates can only challenge the provisional answer key which is released before CMAT result.

No the CMAT scorecard is not sent to any candidate by post. The result is released in online mode only and has to be downloaded from the CMAT-NTA website only.
