How to Calculate SNAP Score?
SNAP result is declared in percentile which is calculated from the raw marks scored by candidate in the exam. There is no normalisation of scores in SNAP but the raw score is scaled down on a common scale. Given below is the official marking scheme on the basis of which the SNAP score is calculated.
-
Total marks of SNAP exam is 60
-
1 mark is awarded for every correct attempt
-
0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer
- 0 marks are awarded for unanswered question
Total marks obtained in all the three sections of the SNAP question paper are added and the resulting overall score is scaled down to 50 to arrive at the candidate's final score. SNAP percentile is then calculated wrt total number of qualifying candidates and the final scorecard is prepared.

Commonly asked questions

To avoid negative marking in SNAP, candidates must choose the questions carefully. There are 60 questions in SNAP and not all are mandatory. So, first they should go through the questions and see which ones they find easy and which ones they find tough. Solve the easy ones first and then move to tough ones. If they are not confident of the answer of a question, they must skip it and not do the guess work to avoid negative marking.

Commonly asked questions
SNAP percentile refers to a candidate's rank against all the test takers, calculated on the basis of marks scored in the exam. For example, total marks in SNAP is 60, so any candidate getting the highest score out of 60 will get 99.99 percentile. In most cases more than one candidates get the highest score so their percentiles are same.
The official answer key of SNAP is not released. It used to be released till 2019, but since 2020, when the exam was revised to three session mode, the examination body does not release the official SNAP answer key. Since, the format of the exam now is such that it gives the candidate a chance to improve their score, only the scorecards are released finally.

These memory based SNAP answer keys help candidates in assessing their performance by providing them possible answers to questions by which they can calculate the number of correct and incorrect attempts.
