Understanding the TG ICET Score

The Telangana ICET exam is conducted with 200 MCQs carrying 1 mark each. To be eligible for TG ICET counselling, candidates need to obtain the qualifying marks set by TGCHE. TG ICET qualifying marks, also known as TG ICET qualifying cutoff, varies based on categories.

TG ICET Qualifying Marks vs Safe Score

There is a difference between TG ICET qualifying score and safe score. Qualifying marks are required to be eligible for admission process, whereas TG ICET safe score is required for admission in the desired college. The qualifying marks for the TG ICET 2026 are as follows:

  • Unreserved Category: 50 marks out of 200 (25 per cent).
  • SC/ST Categories: No minimum qualifying score.

TG ICET Colleges with Safe Score below 120 Marks

Candidates scoring 80 to 119 marks can expect TG ICET rank range between 500 and 10,700. Although such candidates may not get a tier-1 college, most of the top universities will accept this TG ICET score. On the other hand a score below 79 marks will lead to a rank above 10,000. Most of the small institutes accepting TG ICET score may offer admission.

Factors Affecting the TG ICET Safe Score

The safe score for a particular year is not static and can change based oin multiple factors. Some of the factors influencing TG ICET safe score are as follows:

  • Difficulty level of the exam: If the question paper is difficult, a lower score may still yield a high rank. Conversely, an easy paper requires higher scores to maintain the same rank.
  • Total test takers: The total number of registered and appearing candidates directly affects the competition for seats.
  • Seat Available for admission via TG ICET: Fluctuations in the total number of MBA and MCA seats offered by colleges impact cutoff ranks.
  • Normalisation process: Because the exam is conducted across multiple sessions (e.g., June 8 and 9, 2026), the TGCHE uses a normalisation process to balance difficulty variations between different question papers, which determines the final rank.
