IIT Guwahati Signs MoU with University of Southern Denmark to Enhance Tri-Sector Collaboration

IIT Guwahati has signed an MoU with the University of Southern Denmark to enhance collaboration across the academic, industrial, and governmental sectors.

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) to foster bilateral collaboration in research, innovation, and academic exchange. The MoU was formally signed by Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Prof. Henrik Bindslev, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at SDU, in the presence of Jørgen Mads Clausen, Chairman of Danfoss and Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark in the Emirates.

Key highlights of the collaboration include the establishment of a Center of Excellence for Indo-Danish innovation and translational research at IIT Guwahati. The partnership will also introduce joint Master’s and PhD programs featuring co-supervision and mutual credit recognition. Additionally, student and faculty exchange initiatives will promote academic mobility and cross-cultural engagement. The collaboration will further focus on joint research in areas such as sustainable technologies, energy efficiency, climate technologies, and other mutually beneficial domains.

Speaking during the MoU signing event, Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director, IIT Guwahati, said, "This collaboration reinforces our vision to position IIT Guwahati as a global hub for technology, research, and academic excellence. Together with SDU and through industry engagement, we aim to develop sustainable solutions addressing pressing global challenges."

The collaboration will be governed by a Joint Steering Committee comprising academic and industry representatives from both institutions. It will also actively seek industry participation and financial support to enhance the reach and effectiveness of the programs under this MoU.

The recent partnership between IIT Guwahati and SDU marks a milestone in the Indo-Danish alliance, which will help in realising the shared commitment of both nations to global sustainability, knowledge exchange, and technological leadership.
