NIT Calicut Hosts the 13th International Conference
The three-day 13th International Conference on Precision, Meso, Micro, and Nano Engineering (COPEN13) at NIT Calicut concluded with participation from academia, research, and industry communities worldwide. The conference featured 15 invited talks, over 30 technical sessions, panel discussions, and workshops, all highlighting cutting-edge research from around the globe. The panel discussions were led by faculty and professionals from renowned institutions and organizations, including STIMS Institute, San Jose (USA), IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IMTMA Bengaluru, DRDL, NIT Warangal, and Amrita Hospital Kochi, among others.
A key takeaway from the discussions was the consensus that collaborative research between academia and industry should focus on both Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) to achieve impactful outcomes.
In addition to the eight keynote sessions, the final day of the 13th International Conference on Precision, Meso, Micro, and Nano Engineering (COPEN13) featured an enlightening presentation by the research team led by Dr. S. Unnikrishnan Nair from VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram. The talk focused on the challenges of space manufacturing, with a particular emphasis on India’s prestigious Gaganyaan space mission. This session provided valuable insights into the complexities and advancements in space engineering.
The final day also saw a display of research and innovation, with 100 poster presentations and 300 oral presentations held in multiple parallel sessions. These presentations, delivered by young researchers, showcased groundbreaking ideas and cutting-edge advancements in the field of precision engineering. Throughout the three-day conference, COPEN13 attracted active participation from approximately 600 delegates, making it a highly successful and engaging event for both the academic and industry communities.
