IIT JAM 2019: Difficulty Level
Shyam Kishore who gave the exam for Physics shared, “My exam went well. The paper for Physics was easier than last year. I found Solid State and Mathematical Skills questions particularly easy. Questions from Electrostatics, however, were tough. Talking about the section-wise difficulty of the exam, Shyam said, “Among all the sections, questions from section-A (MCQ) were of moderate difficulty level. I could attempt only 11 questions, as I was not sure of the answers of rest of the questions and did not want to get negative marking. Both other sections (MSQ and NAT) were easy.”
Vijay Kumar Patel took the exam for Chemistry paper. He shared, “My exam went really well. I think I would be able to crack the exam.” Regarding the difficulty level of the exam, Vijay said, “Overall, the exam was easy. But I found some questions from Organic Chemistry difficult. Also, out of all sections in the exam, I found questions from MCQ section little tough. Rest both other sections were easy.”
Another candidate, Senapati Pradeep who gave the exam for Geology paper from the city of Bhubaneswar shared that his exam went well. He said, “Overall, I found the paper easy. However, out of all the sections, I found questions from NAT most difficult. I attempted all questions in the exam. But I am little worried because of the negative marking in MCQ section of the exam.”
Arjun, who gave IIT JAM 2019 for Geology as well held contrary views than Senapati. He shared, “My exam did not go well. I found some questions difficult especially in MCQ section of the exam. Negative marking also made MCQ section all the more difficult for me.”
Arpit Sahu also appeared for JAM for Geology paper. He gave the exam from the city of Dhanbad. He shared, “My exam went really good. I found questions in all sections of the exam easy. However, this year in MCQ section, there were few questions which have never been asked in last 10 years.”
According to Manish Sidh, who took the exam for Geology paper as well, “My exam was good. The paper was easier than last year.” Regarding the difficulty level of different sections in the exam, Manish said, “I found some questions in MSQ section of the exam tough. But questions in both other sections were easy. I completed my exam before time. However, I left few questions in MCQ section of the paper because of negative marking.”
IIT JAM 2019: Exam Pattern
As per Shyam Kishore, IIT JAM exam pattern was the same as mentioned by IIT Kharagpur on the official website of JAM 2019. There were no changes in the number of questions or marking scheme of the paper.”
As per Arpit, “The paper was of same difficulty level as last year. There were also no changes in the exam pattern of JAM 2019.”
IIT JAM 2019: Computer-Based Experience
According to Shyam Kishore, his experience of giving CBT was good. He said, “, I always find online exams better than pen-and-paper based tests. There were no technical glitches in the exam.”
Senapati Pradeep also shared, “My experience of giving an online exam was good. I had practiced giving online tests during my preparation for the exam. Therefore, I found no difficulty in appearing for JAM in online mode.”
As per Arpit Sahu, “I gave online test for the first time this year. The experience was good and I found the format easy. There were no technical glitches in the exam.”
