The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) conducts the TNEA choice filling 2024 for the General (Academic) category. TNEA choice filling 2024 schedule round-wise is released by the authority. Registered candidates will be eligible to appear for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2024. Students have to login using their TNEA 2024 application number and password for filling in the choices. The TNEA counselling for the General Category process is an online process. Shortlisted candidates in the TNEA rank list are able to eligible for TNEA choice filling 2024. While filling out the choices, the candidates will have to select the seats as per their preference since it will be taken into consideration during allotment. For the choice filling, candidates have to deposit INR 5000 for other categories and INR1000 for scheduled castes and tribes. Detailed TNEA Choice Filling 2024 Procedure

Step 1: TNEA 2024 Login: Firstly, candidates have to login with their login ID/email ID and password.  After entering the login credentials correctly, candidates have to click on ‘Sign in’ to proceed with the choice-filling process

Step 2: View Personal Details: After login into the system, candidates can see the personal details as registered by you, your academic details, Tamilnadu Engineering admission 2024 information, TNEA application number, rank, etc. Click on the 'Next' button to move to the next screen for the initial payment.

Step 3: Initial Payment: In this step, candidates have to click on to payment gateway. The counselling fee of TNEA choice filling is INR 5000 for others and INR1000 for SC/ST. Candidates will be navigated to the payment gateway. The payment can be made in two ways:

  • Online Payment Gateway
  • Demand Draft - DD should be drawn in favour of “The Secretary, TNEA”, payable at Chennai and payment should be made only through any of the TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFC)

Once the payment is successful, candidates have to see an e-receipt. After completing the payment, the fee receipt will appear as follows. Then click the ‘next’ button to start the choice-filling process

Step 4: Add/Remove Choices: Candidates have to choose carefully their preferences for getting a seat in a branch of an institution. Based on the availability of seats, rank, and community, candidates will be allotted. Candidates must prepare a list of choices in the order of preference to enter the choices in the order of preference correctly and quickly.

Choice Entry and Locking of Choices will be available for 3 days, 3rd day until 5.00 pm. All the above processes can be completed from anywhere, from your home if you have a facility or you can avail of the facility of TFC. Choice Entry and Locking of Choices (3 days, 3rd day until 5.00 pm.

Adding choices - On the top Navigation Bar, candidates will see the link for ‘Add Choices’. Using this, candidates can create a list of branches and colleges. This choice list or preference list should finally be in the order of candidate preference. By clicking, add choices, the following screen will appear on the screen.

  • Choice by District – Entering the name of the District in the list box field
  • Choice by Branch Name – Entering the name of the Branch Name in the text box field
  • Choice by College Code – Entering the name of the College Code in the text box field
  • Choice by College Name – Entering the name of the College Name in the text box field

TNEA 2024 Choice filling – Important Points

  • Candidates can save these, modify the choices until the scheduled time, and lock the choices before the said time
  • Candidates can modify choices by deleting, moving up by a place, making a particular choice as the desired choice number etc.
  • By clicking on the Yellow colour ‘Move’ button place it near the selected choice

Step 5: Rearrange the Choices: In this step, candidates can add/remove choices anytime within the stipulated time (3rd day before 5 pm). After clicking on the ‘Download My Choice’ candidates can download the choice list. Click on ‘Send My Choice List to My Email’ to send the choice list to your personal email.

Step 6: Locking of Choices: After adding/removing choices, candidates have to lock their choices. In this step candidates have to click on ‘Send OTP’. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile and email ID, then enter the One Time Password in the space provided for that and click the ‘Lock My Choice Lock’ button.

Candidates must note that once the choices are locked, they cannot be changed. However, if candidates do not lock within the given time, the admission authority will lock the TNEA choice filling automatically.

Step 7: Tentative TNEA 2024 Seat Allotment- Once you have locked your choices, a tentative TNEA seat allotment will be made based on the rank and preferences of the candidates.

After the tentative allotment is over, candidates can login and see their allotment.

Note: The candidates must submit their options for the tentative allotment

Tamilnadu Engineering Counselling 2024 will comprise four to five rounds. Each round will be held over 5 days and candidates will have three days to enter their tentative option (college/course).

Q:   What are the credentials required for TNEA Login?
A: 

Candidates have to enter their email address and password on the TNEA login window. The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) Tamil Nadu releases TNEA application form on the official website. To apply for TNEA admissions, candidates have to pass their qualifying examination I. e. 10+2 or intermediate and meet the eligibility requirements set by the authority. Candidates who have successfully registered for admission will be allotted a random number. To participate in the TNEA 2025 counselling process, candidates have to submit the TNEA application form 2025 within the prescribed timelines and pay the required fees.

TNEA stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu conducts TNEA every year. It is an online counselling window. All Indian National candidates who wish to take admission to Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Annamalai University and for the seats surrendered by Self-Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu have to apply for TNEA counselling.

TNEA counselling is a Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals only. The courses offered via this online counselling are BE/BTech and BE (sandwich) courses. TNEA counselling is conducted online in 4 rounds as per the schedule. Candidates need to participate in corresponding rounds based on their rank.

Q:   When will DoTE release the TNEA Random Number?
A: 

TNEA 2026 Random Number will be out in June 2026. Registered candidates have to sign in by entering login Id/email Id and password to view their unique random number allotted by the authority. The conducting body also informs all the registered candidates about the assigned random number of TNEA 2026 through SMS. The random number will be a 10 digit number that will be allotted to the candidates randomly. Candidates have to verify their documents at TFCs as per their assigned TNEA random number.

How to check TNEA Random Number?

  1. On the official website of TNEA 2026
  2. Navigate to the candidate login page
  3. On the login page, enter your email ID/login ID, password, and captcha code
  4. The TNEA random number will be displayed on the screen
  5. View your random number and save it for future references.
Q:   When will the TNEA document verification at the TFCs start?
A: 

The TNEA 2026 document verification at the TFC was held in June 2026. The uploaded certificates are subjected to verification at the TFCs selected by the candidates in the online application form. The Certificate uploading and verification procedure is intimated after the completion of the registration process. While verifying the documents uploaded during TNEA 2026 registration, candidates have to follow the following steps:

If the status shown is Incomplete, candidates have to scan all the required certificates as a single pdf file and upload it.

After uploading they must freeze the upload and logout.

If the status shown is 'upload not completed and Upload status as Not started', scan all the certificates as a single pdf file and upload.

After uploading freeze the upload and logout.

If the status shown is 'In Progress', it indicates that Certificate verification is under process.

If the status shown is 'Completed successfully', then it indicates that Certificate verification is completed successfully for that Application.

TNEA Seat Allotment 2024

The authority will release the TNEA 2024 seat allotment after the TNEA choice filling. The list of candidates will be prepared solely based on the merit list prepared by the authority, choices filled and category and candidates have to login to their TNEA account to see the result of seat allotment.

For Anna University admission to the BE courses via TNEA, a good rank would depend on the category. For the General AI, the cutoff ranged from 28 to 239138 for the BE CSE course. How much cutoff required for Anna University would depend on the category you belong to and the course chosen. According to the Anna University TNEA cutoff 2025, General AI category students need a rank of at least 239138 if they want admission to the CSE course.

No, without TNEA counselling candidates cannot apply for the BTech programme at Alpha College of Engineering. To be eligible for admission to BTech/B.E., the candidates must apply and appear in the counselling round.

No, the TNEA cutoff for the BTech course has not been released yet. The students must keep themselves updated from official website. Once released, they can visit TNEA website, search the BTech course category. The tentative dates for release are usually in the months of June and July 2026.
