How to Prepare for SET 2026 in Six Months: Tips and Tricks
Here are some month-wise preparation tips on how to prepare for SET exam in six months:
First Two Months: Complete the syllabus
Start your SET preparation by working on the basic concepts of the Quant and Logical Reasoning sections. Make the most use of the first two months on studying the concepts, theories and formulae of all the topics listed under these sections. Make small notes and watch videos related to these sections to clear the concepts. Also, start with the sections which you find the most difficult. Also, while you are learning the concepts, make the newspaper your best friend. Give a good enough time to the newspaper and be updated with the latest news and trends. Try to make a weekly plan and follow it with dedication. Make a target of studying two to three hours daily for the first two months. Focus on Arithmetic for the Quant section and start with solving simple puzzles for the Logical Reasoning section. Also, practice comprehension passages to prepare for the General English section of the Symbiosis SET exam. By the second month, target taking one sectional mock test per week to track progress after the completion of syllabus.

Next Two Months: Practice Grammar and Vocabulary
Dedicate the next two to three months to practising grammar and improving vocabulary. Also, students should practice as many SET mock test and previous year's SET exam question papers to identify their strong and weak pursuits. Students should measure performance after each mock test and try to improve their score. This will also help them understand the SET exam pattern, weightage of marks for each section, type of questions, etc. Students can target taking two to three sectional mock tests per week within set timers. By the fourth month of the SET preparation, students should take at least one full-length mock test. Target accuracy and speed during this time and improve weak areas.

Last Month – Mock Test and Revision
By the fifth month, students should focus on attempting two to three full-length mock tests and complete their SET preparation with revision. One month for revision is a good time to brush up on all the topics that you have studied and formulae and theories that you have memorised. Divide your days into giving mock tests and revising the topics. Explore tricks and shortcuts to answer the questions accurately and quickly.
The last tip is to stay calm and focused. Stay positive and calmly attempt the SET question paper to fetch a good score in the SET exam.
In 2025, SET was conducted in two phase, i.e. Test 01 and Test 02. According to the SET analysis and student's reactions, the difficult level of the exam is easy to moderate in both sessions. A good score in SET BBA exam can be subjective, but if we look at the analysis, then the following can be termed as a good score in SET:
Section | Number of Questions | Difficult Level | Good Score |
|---|---|---|---|
General English | 16 | Easy | 13-15 |
Quantitative Aptitude | 16 | Moderate | 13-14 |
General Awareness | 16 | Moderate | 07-09 |
Analytical and Logical Reasoning | 12 | Easy-Moderate | 10-12 |
Some of the ways to avoid common mistakes in the SET exam are:
- Students should try to develop a strategic approach by allocating specific time slots to each section during the SET preparation and give priority to the easier questions.
- Students should not underestimate SET mock tests. Students should take regular mock tests as they stimulate actual exam environment and help them familiarize with exam pattern, type of questions, etc.
- Relying solely on rote learning and ignoring the conceptual clarity can hinder your performance in the SET exam. Students should ensure they have a strong understanding of the fundamental concepts in Mathematics and English.
- Do not overlook sectional preparation. Students should focus on identifying their strengths and weaknesses in each section and allocate enough study time accordingly to achieve a balanced preparation.
SET results are announced within a week of the SET exam. Once the results are announced, students can start preparing for the SET counselling rounds and apply to the college's websites. If the candidate meets the SET cutoff of the participating institute they will be called for the WAT/PI rounds. For the preparation of these rounds, students should focus on improving communication skills, current affairs awareness, general knowledge, etc.
