IIT Guwahati offers Institute Merit Scholarship, Institute Merit-cum-Means (McM) Scholarships, SC/ST and other scholarships.
Institute scholarships: IIT Guwahati offers three types of institute scholarships for its graduate/ postgraduate students. Tabulated below are details on types of institute scholarships and awards:

Other Scholarships: IIT Guwahati allows its students to avail of other scholarships offered by central/ state government or private corporations.
Assistantships: These apply to all BTech, MTech, MDes and PhD regular students. Assistantships are offered as per the norms of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India or IIT Council.

Yes, IIT Guwahati offers scholarships to meritorious students. These scholarships are divided into three categories susch as:
- Institute Scholarships
- Other Scholarships
- Assistantships
Any one of the IIT Guwahati scholarships can be availed by eligible students. IIT Guwahati offers three types of institute scholarships for its graduate/ postgraduate students.
Candidates under M.Tech Students (Studentship) category must have valid GATE score in admissible examination paper. They are entitled to receive Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from IIT Guwahati at the rate of INR 12,400 per month (tenable for a maximum period of 24 months) as per the governing rules subject to satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory performance in assigned teaching assistant duty.
The institute doesn't offers any scholarship to its students. Provided, the candidates studying at IIIT Guwahati can avail scholarship benefits offered by some government agencies. The list of scholarships offered by other government agencies is given below:

IIT Guwahati Admission 2025 FAQs
The total course fee is inclusive of multiple components such as the tuition fee, security deposit, alumni fee, etc. Candidates taking up hostel facilities may have to pay the fee for it, separately. However, as per the unofficial sources, the total tuition fee for a two-year MSc course at IIT Guwahati ranges between INR 1.1 lakh to INR 20 lakh. IIT Guwahati has a seat intake of 33 for MDes, including 13 seats for the General category. The institute reserves 3 seats for the EWS General category and 9 seats for OBC-NCL. For SC and ST, the institute offers 5 and 3 seats, respectively. This seat intake is as per the past years' data and hence is subject to changes. Candidates who have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects is the basic eligibility for BDes offered at IIT Guwahati. Further, the selection of candidates is based on the scores obtained by them in the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) followed by a counselling round conducted at the institute.
Candidates wanting to enrol for an MSc course must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as per the course's requirements. Aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree in the Science stream with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognised institution. Additionally, the pass certificate and mark sheets have to be presented at the time of admission as proof of eligibility for verification purposes.
In order to get admission in IIT Guwahati for BTech course, the student need to provide valid JEE Main score. Admission to BTech at IIT Guwahati is purely based on the score obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam followed by JoSAA counselling.
