My graduation score is less than 50% in aggregate. Am I eligible for XLRI admission?

Yes, candidates with less than 50 per cent in aggregate in graduation are eligible for admission to PGDM courses in XLRI. Candidates need to have minimum passing marks in Graduation. They must have however, completed their graduation from a recognised university only. Candidates planning to seek admission to an MBA college other than XLRI must check its eligibility criteria as the minimum score requirement of AICTE approved colleges is 50 percent (45 percent for Reserved categories). But having 50 per cent and above score is not a guarantee for getting selected for admission. You will need to clear the admission round which is based on XAT cut off percentile. If you do not meet the XAT cut off percentile you will not be selected for XAT personal interview round, which is the main parameter for MBA admission in XLRI.

Is there any process to apply for multiple XAT accepting colleges through one form?

There is no process of applying for multiple XAT accepting colleges through one form because there is no common counselling for XAT. Candidates have to apply to the colleges of their choice individually. They must keep in mind the application last date so they don't miss out on it. Also, they must check the admission cut offs and selection criteria.

What is sectional cut off for XAT?

Sectional cut off for XAT refers to the minimum percentile fixed for each section of the exam that candidates have to meet. For example, if the Quantitative Aptitude cut off is 85 percentile for XAT, students should score 85 percentile or more in the section of XAT to become eligible for group discussion and personal interview. Why is XAT cut off different for male and female candidates?

XAT cut off different for male and female candidates to promote diversity in the candidate pool. However, the difference in cut offs is not too big. There's usually a difference of 1 or 2 percentile between XAT cut offs for male candidate and female candidate. Infact, the difference is not limited to gender only. The XAT cut offs for engineering students and non-engineering students are also different. MBA has traditionally seen to be dominated by candidates from Engineering graduates, a stream which has also been traditionally been dominated by male students. To increase diversity and encourage students from other streams of education, XLRI has different cut offs. However, low cut offs, does not ensure admission. Female candidates still need to meet other parameters of XLRI admission criteria.

Do I need to fill XLRI form separately for admission through XAT?

Candidates planning to take admission to XLRI Jamshedpur need not fill a separate form. The XAT application form includes a field in which the candidates have to select XLRI course in which they want to take admission. However, candidates can select only XLRI Jamshedpur as a preferred college in the XAT application form. There is no option of selecting other XAT accepting colleges in the application form. For XAMI member institutes or other MBA colleges accepting XAT score for admission, you will be required to register separately on their respective official websites when the applications open. Most of the XAMI institutes start MBA application process after XAT result declaration. However, keep a check on the admission schedule of your target college, so that you don’t miss the application deadline.

What is the total cost of pursuing MBA from XLRI?

The total course fee of full time MBA at XLRI is INR 28 Lacs according to Shiksha. The fee is to be paid semester wise. The first installment is to be paid at the time of admission. The XLRI course fee includes tuition fees, hostel and mess charges, caution money, library chargers and other miscellaneous services.

How can I apply for XLRI Delhi Campus BM programme?

Candidates can apply for XLRI Delhi's Business Management programme on the official website by selecting the course and campus option while filling the XAT application form which is released in the first week of August every year. If they do not mention XLRI Delhi has their preferred exam in the XAT application form, they will not be eligible for admission to the institute. Candidates must remember that there is no separate application form for XLRI PGDM programmes, so they need to make the selection of institute in the XAT application form only. There is no option to edit the field in the form later so candidates must mention the institute in the XAT application form. There is no provision of filling the admission form after the exam or after result announcement.

My XAT score is 89 percentile but my graduation score is less than 50%. Will I get admission?

It is unlikely that you will get admission as most of the B-Schools have minimum graduation score criteria of 50%. If you belong to Reserved category, you may get admission as the minimum score criteria for such candidates is 45%. There are some B-schools which do not have minimum score criteria in graduation. So, you may try to seek admission in one of those institutions as 89% is a good score in XAT.

Is there any counselling fee for XAT?

There is no specific counselling fee for XAT. Since, admission through XAT score is not done through centralized counselling process, candidates need to apply to score accepting colleges individually and pay the requisite fee. The college application fee for B-schools usually range between INR 1000 to INR 5000.

Overview

XLRI selection process 2026 includes Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) and Personal Interview (PI). The criteria to shortist canddidates for MBA-HRM and MBA-BM programmes will be XAT score and academic record. XAT 2026 was conducted on January 4, 2026 and the result was announced on January 16, 2026. XLRI released the PI call letters to shortlisted candidates via email. on January 28. XLRI Admission: Essay Writing or AEW

Analytical Essay Writing or AEW allows a management aspirant to showcase their knowledge about relevant issues and ability to share opinion on the same with clarity. In the XLRI AEW, candidates are given an economic, social, business or abstract topic on which they have to write a short essay of 250 words explaining their point of view in a coherent, concise and convincing manner. Essay Writing was earlier the part of XAT exam but for the past two years it is conducted separately at the time of PI shortlisting.

XLRI Admission: Importance of PI

Personal Interview or PI is conducted by the XLRI to know the candidate's personality and their area of expertise or interest better as well as assess their communication skills and ability to handle pressure. The PI round has a panel of experts interviewing the candidate. The questions usually pertain to candidate's academics, work experience and career goals. Candidates are advised to practice PI and publich speaking. Also, prepare their CV in a way that it has every achievement listed on it.

Q: How will I know if I have converted the XLRI interview call or not?

Every candidate is informed by XLRI Jamshedpur about their selection via email. The interview round is held in February-March and the offer letter are sent to selected candidates in April-May.
