The study of application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism, is known as Electrical Engineering. Trained electrical engineers has a wide job scope from small hardware companies to large power plants. For specialisation or to pursue postgraduate engineering courses (MTech) in Electrical Engineering, candidates have to appear in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020. The exam not only acts as a gateway to courses in premier engineering colleges in India like IITs, NITs or IIITs but also opens avenues for jobs in PSUs.
But getting into a public sector unit or any aforesaid institute, candidates have to score good marks in the exam. It can only be done if a candidate follows a very effective study plan as around 10 lakh candidates are expected to participate in GATE 2020. The success of any aspirant depend on how well he/she is prepared as per the level of the exam.
According to the GATE 2020 exam schedule, the exam will be conducted on February 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2020 and GATE 2020 registrations will begin from September 3 and last till September 24, 2019. So with only five months left, the preparation strategy of an aspirant should be so effective that it will help a candidate in getting a good rank and score rather not just in qualifying the exam. Analyse GATE 2020 Electrical Engineering syllabus
It is very important for every GATE 2020 aspirant to analyse the GATE 2020 Electrical Engineering syllabus but not just go through it. Why it is important? Analysis will help students to know the importance of topics from exam point of view before starting their preparation. Before flagging off their preparation, every candidate needs to find out whether there is any connection between different chapters, the weightage carried by the topics or sections, and also the difficulty level of each one of them.
Such an analysis will facilitate a more practical and effective preparation plan for GATE 2020. Such analysis will allow students to focus on chapters with lesser content but more weightage from exam point of view. By finishing such chapters first, students may focus on chapters with lesser importance from exam point of view. One very important point every GATE aspirant keep in mind is that every topic must be studied well, skipping even one may create hardships for students during the exam.
Know GATE 2020 Exam Pattern
It is very important for every aspirant to well verse with the GATE 2020 Exam Pattern even before starting their preparation. It is so as the GATE exam has a mix of different types of questions like: one mark/two mark questions, multiple choice questions and Numerical Answer Type (NAT).
Key points of GATE 2020 exam pattern
- The question paper will be of 3 hours
- There will be 65 questions of total 100 marks
- Question types will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.
- There will be negative marking for MCQs and not for NAT questions
- The question paper will have three parts – General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Subject-specific part
Draft a study plan
As soon as a candidate starts preparing for the exam, he/she must prepare a study schedule and strictly follow it. The study plan can be divided in covering the entire syllabus, practicing questions, regular revisions, appearing in GATE mock tests and test series. One important aspect is that the study plan must be realistic about how much time an individual will be required to complete a topic. Also, the study plan must be prepared in a way that it covers both short-term and long-term goals.
Refer right study materials
Referring right books and study materials will support the candidates in improving their preparation. There will be higher chances of securing more marks if the candidates are studying through the appropriate study material from exam point of view.
