GATE 2025 Environmental Science and Engineering Syllabus

GATE 2026 Environmental Science and Engineering Syllabus: IIT Guwahati will conduct GATE 2026 exam in two phases on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. IIT Guwahati has announced GATE 2026 exam dates: February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026 in two sessions - Forenoon (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). Q:   Is JEE mandatory for BSc courses at IIT Madras?
A:

No, JEE exams are not mandatory for BSc admissions at IIT Madras. Candidates who wish to take admissions into the BSc course at IIT Madras must appear for IISER entrance examination. The admissions into IIT Madras BSc courses are decided on merit basis where, the scores obtained by candidates in the IISER entrance exam are taken into account to decide the admissions.

Q:   Is it enough to rely on the college text books for GATE 2026 preparation?
A:

Honestly, textbooks are not enough for GATE preparation (especially if you are targeting IITs and top colleges). 

Besides your college books, look out for top GATE books recommended by toppers, mentors, and professors. Pick at least one standard book for each subject and start studying it side by side. Apart from that, also practice solving GATE question papers of last 5 to 10 years to get hands on the question difficulty and pattern. 

Stay consistent, prepare a practical timetable and religiously follow it. At the end, it's all upto how you prepare for the exam.

GATE 2026 Environmental Science and Engineering Syllabus: Pattern

IIT Guwahati has released GATE 2026 environmental science and engineering syllabus on website. Candidates can check pattern below -

  • GATE ES paper will be conducted online for three hours 
  • To obtain good score and rank in GATE 2026, students must be aware of exam pattern of GATE ES
  • GATE question paper include three sections - General Aptitude (GA), Engineering Mathematics, and Subject-specific questions
  • Total mark of GATE ES question paper 2026 is 100 and consists of 65 questions
  • Distribution of marks can be checked here: engineering mathematics 13 marks, general aptitude 15 marks, and environmental science and engineering 72 marks. 
  • All questions carry either one to two marks. Negative marking is only applicable to MCQs.

No, GATE is not a mandatory entrance exam for securing admissions at IIIT Bhubaneshwar. Candidates who fail to secure a GATE scorecard can still appear for the IIIT Bhubaneshwar M.Tech entrance exam which includes a written test. The syllabus of this written test is the same as the GATE.

In GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) official answer key, MTA stands for Marks to All.

"Marks to All"  states that the marks allotted to that question will be given to all candidates who attempted that particular test paper.

No, both are the same in difficulty level. GATE is conducted for 30 papers, while JAM is held for seven papers. The difficulty level of IIT JAM and GATE varies from paper to paper. To score good marks, students must focus on the exam syllabus and high-weightage topics.
