How Much Percentile is Required for JEE Advanced: NTA will announce minimum percentile marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced 2026. In 2025, the minimum marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced were 93.1023262 for general category candidates. The same was 79.4313582 for the OBC-NCL category candidates. On the other hand, for the SC and ST candidates, the percentile required for JEE Advanced last year was 61.1526933 and 47.9026465 respectively. For the GEN-EWS and the Gen-PwD minimum marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced were 80.3830119 and 0.0079349, respectively.
In 2024, minimum marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced were 93.2362181 for UR, 0.0018700 for UR PWD, 81.3266412 for EWS, 79.6757881 for OBC, 60.0923182 for SC and 46.6975840 for ST.
Note that the candidates who want to be admitted to the Indian Institutes of Technology must take care of 2 kinds of cutoff marks:
- First, minimum marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced 2026.
- Second, minimum marks in JEE Advanced to get an IIT seat.
In addition to the JEE Main marks, candidates must also have passed the board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%. Also, candidates must be among the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examinations.

Minimum Marks in JEE Advanced to Get an IIT Seat
Minimum marks in JEE Advanced or the JEE Advanced cutoff marks to get IIT are released with the JEE Advanced brochure, however, these marks are revised after the JEE Advanced results are announced. Only the candidates who score more than or equal to the cutoff marks get placed in the rank list. Candidates who get a rank in the JEE Advanced scorecard can then participate in JoSAA counselling for IIT admission. The candidates who do not get a rank, are out of the race for IIT admission.
Note that candidates must qualify the JEE Advanced cutoff for each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and also they must pass the overall cutoff of JEE Advanced.

The JEE Advanced 2025 cutoff of the common rank list is 20.56%; 18.50% for the GEN-EWS rank list and OBC-NCL rank list; 10.28% for SC, ST, and PwD rank lists across all categories; and 5.14% for Preparatory course rank lists.
All those candidates who score above the cutoff marks in their respective categories can register for JoSAA counselling to participate in the IIT seat allotment process. Note that qualifying the JEE Advaced cutoff will not guarantee a seat in the IITs. Various factors are at play while allotting seats in the IITs. These factors include the demand for a course and IIT, the number of seats on offer, the reservation criteria, etc.
