The shift 2 answer key, solutions and questions for JEE Main 24 January exam are now available, check below:

Q:   How many questions are asked in JEE Main exam?
A:

As per the current JEE Main pattern, the Paper 1 exam have a total of 75 questions, 25 each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 25 questions, 20 are multiple choice questions and 5 are questions with numerical value answers. Students need to answer all 5 numerical value type questions. Also, all 20 multiple-choice questions are compulsory and no choice is provided in them. Students need to complete all the 75 questions in 3 hours. The total marks of JEE Main exam is 300.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in JEE Main exam?
A:

NO, it is compulsory to attempt all questions in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Main exam has negative marking and candidates must answer only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in JEE Main?
A:

Questions in the JEE Main exam are of two types

Multiple choice questions - Each question will have 4 options with only 1 correct answer. Candidates have to select the correct answer out of the 4 available options. 

Numerical Ability Question - In these type of questions, no options are provided. Candidates have to solve the question and write its answer using keyword and mouse. Answer to these questions will be a numerical value.

Q:   Upto which year should I solve previous year question papers for JEE?
A:

It is advised that students should solve at least previous 10 year question papers of JEE Main. However, the exam pattern as well as difficulty level of JEE Mains has underwent a lot of changes during the last 10 years but still solving previous year JEE Main question papers from last 10 years will definitely help in scoring the good marks in the exam. As new type of questions (Questions with Numerical Value Answer) were intrduced recently, students are advised to practice solving these type of questions to help solve it during the actual exam.

Q:   What are the numerical value questions in JEE Main exam?
A:

Numerical value or integer type questions have numerical value answers. In JEE Main exam, there will be 5 numerical value type questions from every subject. Unlike MCQs, these questions do not have answer options.

Q:   How can I best utilize previous year JEE Main question papers?
A:

Previous year question papers gives you insight on topics that have been asked in exam in past years. It will also help in understanding the difficulty level of exam. To get the most of it, solve last 5 years JEE Main question papers and you’ll know where do you stand in clearing the exam.

How to Use JEE Main JEE Main Answer Key to Calculate Score?

To calculate scores using the JEE main answer key, candidates can use the steps below:

  • Download the answer key of JEE Main 2023.
  • Now crosscheck the answers in the key with that of the responses submitted by you in the exam.
  • If the answer matches then add 4 marks. If not then deduct 1 marks.
  • Follow the process and calculate the total score.

Or simply put the number of correct answers and the number of incorrect answers in the formula below:

JEE Main 2023 raw score = 4 X number of correct answers - 1 X number of wrong answers

Note, that the scores that are fetched after using the answer key are the raw score. NTA will convert the raw score to percentile scores for the All India Rank, cutoff and final marks.

JEE Main 2023 Cutoff

JEE Main 2023 cutoff means the minimum marks candidates need to obtain to sit for JEE Advanced. NAT release this cutoff after the final session of JEE Main 2023 is over. The cutoff marks vary category-wise. The cutoff marks will be the minimum percentile marks needed. This year the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main 2023, will be able to register for JEE Advanced.

JEE Main 2023 Result

JEE Main 2023 result is announced a few days after the exam. Candidates can check the result online at jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main scorecard will have the details of the candidate's normalised percentile score in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and aggregate percentile score of all three subjects. Note that the All India Rank of the candidates will be based on the best performance of the candidates out of both sessions. Therefore the AIR will be available after the April sessions exams end with the final result.
