Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University is a multi-campus university with its headquarters in Hyderabad. JNTU (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University) was originally known as ‘The College of Engineering, Vizagpatnam’ at the time of its establishment in 1946. This college became a constituent of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University w.e.f. JNTU Ananthapur

JNTU Ananthapur was established as a Government Engineering College at Guindy, Madras, in 1946 and shifted to Ananthapur in 1948. In 2008, under the AP Legislature Act, JNTU set up three independent universities - JNTU Hyderabad, JNTU Kakinada, and JNTU Anantapur.
