UPSEE is a gateway for admissions to engineering programmes offered by UPTU (Uttar Pradesh Technical University), Lucknow. Like other engineering exams, UPSEE also examines a student’s basic concepts, thinking ability and problem solving skills. The level of questions asked in this exam is lower as compared to other national level examinations like JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

The strategy that you follow for preparing for UPSEE can make or break the situation for you. Though the exam is not very tough to prepare for, but a constant and effective plan is needed to crack the exam and get you through UPTU.

Take a look at some of the points below to know how exactly you should plan out your preparation to achieve your cherished goal!

  • Sample Papers: Get hold of UPSEE sample papers of the last 7 to 8 years. This will help you get an understanding and idea of the exam format and level of questions that you need to answer in the exam.  Subsequently, this will also add up to your revision for the exam
  • Mock Tests: Take as many mock tests as you can. In fact, every day try taking one or two of them. This will help you make your practice perfect. Besides this, it would also build up the required confidence in you. Learn from your mistakes and develop your strategy.
  • Get your basics right: This holds true for any engineering exam that you take. Getting your basics right should be your first priority. If you have that sorted, you would have no problems in answering questions.
  • Work on your analytical skills: Just cramming the concepts won’t prove fruitful. Try to relate the theoretical concepts to real life experiences as it aids in improving the analytical skills. Work on improving your problem solving skills and practice numerous questions. Each question has some technique involved in it, and hence with practice you tend to further your problem solving skills.
  • Time management:  Hard work with proper time management is all what you need to win this race. Your win will depend on how well you perform on the final day. Thus, time management both while preparing and taking the exam are essential.
  • Revision notes: While going through the chapters jot down the important points separately and prepare your revision notes or flash cards. These notes are really helpful especially in the final days when you don’t have sufficient time to go through the entire stuff again.
  • Revision: Constant revision is a must. It is extremely important to either keep revising the content or to practice questions based on the absorbed concepts. This helps in retaining the matter for longer duration.
  • Negative Marking: The exam does not have a negative marking system, so the aspirants should try and attempt all the questions in the exam. Also, they should try to cover maximum amount of syllabus without going into the intricacies.
  • Give equal importance to recreation: Limiting yourself within the four walls of the room won’t help. Instead it might have a negative impact on your productivity. Go for morning walks, take frequent breaks, and catch up with friends, family and relatives. This is important to regain the lost energy and it also helps in improving productivity.
