What are the chances KCET 2020 postponement or cancellation? Check the details on this page below.
KCET is the abbreviated form of Karnataka Common Entrance Test, conducted for admission to the full-time Engineering, Technology, BPharma, DPharma, Agriculture courses (Farm Science) and Veterinary courses in various institutes of Karnataka.
Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts the examination every year. In 2020, KCET date has been extended multiple times because of the spread of coronavirus. For now, KCET 2020 is scheduled to be held on July 30 and July 31. Now, the question arises “Will KCET 2020 be postponed or not?” It is because the COVID-19 cases are touching new peaks day-by-day. We have discussed the chances of postponement of KCET on this page below.

COVID-19 cases in India and Karnataka
As of July 09, 2020, the COVID-19 cases in all over India is 7,71,129 out of which active cases are 2,72,170 and 4,77,685 patients have recovered.
If we talk about Karnataka, the number of confirmed cases is 28,877 out of which 16,524 are active cases whereas 11,878 have recovered successfully.
All the other engineering entrance examinations such as JEE Main, BITSAT, GUJCET, KEAM and more are continuously being postponed. Not only engineering entrance examinations but also the other entrance exams are postponed various times. The cases are increasing every day and we don’t know when the situation is going to be normal. Therefore, keeping the current situation in the view it is possible that KEA postpones KCET 2020 again.
Risk of COVID-19 spread due to travelling
Aspirants have to travel some distance to reach the KCET exam centre. There is a high risk of COVID-19 spread while travelling as the aspirants will come in contact with the other people. However, many aspirants can use his/her own convenience but still, it does not reduce the risk of spread. The major problem is for the aspirants who have to travel from other states to Karnataka. This is not the right time to travel from one place to another unless and until it is an emergency.
Although, KEA has added 75 new exam centres so that they can manage the aspirants and maintain the social distancing among them while conducting the exam. But these things will work when the situation will be in control and aspirants will appear in the exam.
Recently, the Karnataka SSLC exam concluded with 32 aspirants testing COVID-19 positive. The family members of these aspirants were affected too. Hence the Government should postpone the exam.
What are the chances of KCET 2020 cancellation?
The chances of KCET 2020 cancellation is very less. It is because in Karnataka the students are admitted to the government and private educational institutions through KCET. The scorecard of other national level entrance exam is considered for admission to some courses but the percentage of students admitted is very less. Hence, we can say the sooner or later KCET 2020 will be conducted.
Hypothetically, if KCET 2020 got cancelled then KEA may consider Class 12 marks to admit the aspirants. But again it is just an assumption KEA has not mentioned any such thing at its website.
