GATE 2026 Application Form OUT: IIT Guwahati has activated the GOAPS 2026 link for GATE 2026 application form submission. The GATE 2026 registration last date without late fees has been revised to October 6, and with late fees is October 9. To apply for the GATE 2026 exam, candidates must check their eligibility and keep all their documents ready. The GATE 2026 registration link is available below. 

The GATE application form 2026 process includes stages: candidate registration, followed by filling in details, uploading documents, paying fees, and submitting the form. This year, IIT Guwahati has revised the application fees. For female/SC/ST/PwD candidates is INR 1000, and for all unreserved candidates, it is INR 2000 during the regular period. GATE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

IIT Guwahati released the GATE 2026 eligibility criteria on the official website along with the GATE 2026 candidate login. The criteria comprise the age limit, nationality, relaxation, and educational qualifications.

  • The nationality of the candidate must be Indian
  • Foreign nationals are also eligible for the GATE examination. However, they must fulfil the GATE eligibility for foreign nationals.
GATE 2026 Educational qualification
  • Candidate must have passed graduation in engineering/technology or a master's in any relevant science subject.
  • Candidates in the final or pre-final year are also eligible for the GATE exam.
  • Candidates who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India are also eligible for GATE. They must be in their third or higher year or have completed a Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/technology/architecture or any GATE-eligible discipline.
GATE 2026 Age Limit
  • There is no age limit for candidates who want to apply for the GATE examination.
GATE 2026 Attempt Limit
  • There is no attempt limit.

The GATE 2026 aspirants must be aware of the GATE registration process before applying. They must be aware of the GATE's official website (as all the official notifications will be updated here), form submission deadline, where to apply, which is the GOAPS GATE 2026 candidate login link, eligibility and application fees. The GATE 2026 application form dates are August 28 to October 6 (without late fees) and till October 9 (with late fees). Candidates can check the steps GATE application form process below.

Here is a step-by-step GATE 2026 application form guideline that the candidates must follow -

Step I - Registration

This is the first stage of the application form process. During the GATE 2026 registration, candidates must provide their full name, date of birth, a valid email ID, and mobile number, as well as their country of residence, and then create a password. All communication regarding the GATE exam will be sent to the contact details provided by the candidate. 

Once the registration is completed, candidates will receive a GATE enrollment ID via their registered email ID to continue with the registration. The enrollment ID is needed for login to GOAPS and for all other GATE-related activities. The GATE password must be around 8 to 15 characters long and must be kept safe throughout the admission process. The GATE enrollment ID and password are the GATE 2026 login credentials. 

What is a GATE password?

The candidate has to choose a password during enrollment and will be needed along with the enrollment ID to login to the account. The password length must be 8 to 15 characters. Keep the password safe and secure.

Step II - Filling the GATE 2026 application form

Once the registration is complete, candidates need to fill out their exam, personal information, address, degree, documents, and declaration form. Here is the list of the details that must be filled in the GATE registration form 2026

Step III - Uploading of Documents

After filling out the details, candidates must upload a scanned copy of the required documents, including photographs, signatures, educational certificates, category certificates, etc. After completing all the steps, preview the application form. Candidates must check every detail after filling out the form and must rectify the mistake if found before final submission. Candidates must upload each document as per the prescribed specifications mentioned below -

  • Good quality image of the candidate’s photograph conforming to the specifications 
  • Good quality image of the candidate’s signature conforming to the specifications    
  • A scanned copy of a valid photo ID document (ID)  
  • PDF copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate (if applicable)  
  • A PDF copy of the PwD Certificate (if applicable)  
  • PDF copy of Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable)  

Step IV - Payment of Application Fees

Candidates must pay the application to complete the application form. Candidates can check the details of the category-wise GATE 2026 application fee. After completing the application form, click “Submit & Proceed to the payment”. Once the candidate clicks on the “submit & proceed to payment" after filling out the GATE Application form, the GOAPS 2026 Portal redirects the candidate to a new Payment gateway webpage. Candidates can pay via netbanking/credit card/debit card/UPI. The candidate will be redirected to the portal upon successful transaction.

Step V - Application Form Submission

Once the payment is successful, a unique “Fee Payment Number” will be generated, which the candidate MUST save.  Before submitting the application form, candidates must read and accept the declaration statement provided at the end of the application process stage. Candidates must note that they can’t edit the provided details after submitting the form. After submission, candidates can download the GATE 2026 registration form in PDF format and save it for future purposes. 

Details Required for GATE Login 2026

To access the GATE candidate login, candidates need to have an enrollment ID and password, which will be provided after successful registration. Each registered candidate will be provided with a GATE enrollment ID. Upon registration, an email containing the enrollment ID will be sent to the candidate.

Documents required to fill GATE 2026 application form

The GATE 2026 registrations are ongoing. To access the GATE 2026 application form, it is important to keep all the details and documents ready to avoid the last-minute hustle. Aspirants must be aware that the documents that they have to upload during the GATE 2026 registration form must be in the correct format (covering all the specifications). The GATE 2026 documents must be readable, clear, and appropriately scanned. Here is a list of all the documents required during the registration process. 

  • A recent high-quality image of a candidate's photograph of the specified requirements. 
  • A good-quality image of the candidate's signature conforming to the specified requirements. 
  • The candidate must upload a scanned copy of the Category (SC/ST) certificate in PDF format (if applicable). Authorised officers must issue the certificate (as mentioned in the official GATE 2025 notification). 
  • A valid ID proof (uploaded in PDF format) as per the specifications. Candidates must carry the following document to the exam.
  • Candidates must specify one of the following valid Photo Identity Documents (IDs): Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Passport, etc. 
  • Candidate must upload PwD Certificate and specify Scribe Requirements (In case of PwD candidates)
  • The candidate must upload the Certificate of Dyslexic Condition & specify the scribe requirements (In case of a dyslexic candidate)

NOTE: Candidates who are opting for the scribe facility must provide their certificate to avail the scribe assistance for the GATE examination.

  • A recent colour photograph with a white background and the candidate's face should cover 60-70% of the photograph's area. 
  • The photo of the candidate must be of 3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height with a minimum size of 5 Kb to 600 kb
  • Photographs must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG Format
  • Maximum pixel resolution must be 530 x 690 pixels and the minimum resolution must be 200 x 260 pixels.
  • The candidate’s face must not be covered with objects such as cloth, caps, hats, sunglasses, coloured glasses, etc., except for religious reasons.

  • Aspect ratio must be 1:R, where the value of R must be between 2.75 and 3.75
  • Must be done in blue or black ink pen
  • The signature must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG Format

  • Maximum pixel resolution is 580 x 180 pixels and minimum pixel resolution is 250 x 80 pixels
  • The candidate must ensure that the uploaded signature matches the signature at the time of examination, else he/she will be disqualified. 

GATE 2026 application form: educational documents required at the time of admission

During the registration process, candidates are required to submit any educational qualification details. Instead, they have to provide details regarding their educational qualification, such as college pincode, roll number, qualifying degree, etc. 

DYSLEXIA CERTIFICATE FOR GATE Registrations 2026

Such a certificate can be obtained from any Dyslexia Association. Some of them are listed below:

Any dyslexic or PwD candidate can avail of the facility of a scribe for the GATE 2026 exam. Candidates can check the scribe specifications below.

SCRIBE SPECIFICATIONS: 

  • The scribe must not be a candidate for the GATE 2026 examination. 
  • The educational qualification of the scribe must be less than the minimum eligibility criteria of GATE. 
  • A panel of (Y+1) scribes for Y candidates will be available at the exam centre so that candidates can choose an alternative scribe for the services. 
  • Candidates with scribes will be given an extra 1 hour of compensatory time if their writing capabilities are limited.

GATE 2026 Application Form Fees

The GATE 2026 application fees are different for all categories. IIT Guwahati will only accept the application form if the payment is successful. Candidates can pay the GATE application fees using any of the following: debit card/credit card/net banking, or UPI. International master and Visa cards are also acceptable for payment of the GATE application fee.

NOTE: The GATE candidate registration fee 2026 is non-refundable, except when a certain combination is removed by the GATE conducting body. 

The application fee for GATE 2026 is different for general and reserved/female category candidates. Here are the revised fee details of the application form for different category sections, along with the GATE 2026 late fee charges.

Note: In addition, PwD candidates with a benchmark disability of more than 40% are eligible for fee concession.

Once the payment is successful, candidates are advised to download a PDF copy of the registration form.

Before paying the application fee for GATE 2026, candidates must check their internet connectivity. If the payment is received, the candidate can download the application form. If not, a fresh payment must be initiated. However, if the amount is deducted from the bank account but the payment acknowledgement still needs to be received, the money will be credited back to the source account within 15 days. GATE 2026 Application Form Paper Combination

The GATE two-paper combination can be selected when filling out the GATE 2026 application form. IIT Guwahati has released the list of the GATE 2026 Two-Paper combination list on the website. Candidates must choose both subjects from the allowed subject combination in the GATE exam. The priority subject is the primary paper; the second is termed the secondary paper. GATE organising authority can add or remove a paper/paper from the given combination during the correction window.

How to Add a Secondary Paper after Submitting GATE 2026 Application Form?

If you have applied for one paper and submitted the GATE 2026 application form, you can still add Paper II during the application process. To do that, follow the steps below -

  • Visit the official website of GATE
  • Click on the application form link at the GOAPS portal
  • Log in using the credentials - enrollment ID, password, and captcha expression
  • Once you are logged in, an application status page will be displayed on the screen. With that, there is an option to add another paper displayed on the screen. You can click the add paper option and select from the options for GATE Paper II. 
  • Select the paper, pay using any payment mode, and submit the application form. This paper selection is considered your GATE Paper II or secondary paper.

Before retrieving the GATE enrollment ID 2026, applicants must keep their email ID and mobile number handy. Here are the steps that you can follow -

  • Visit the GATE GOAPS 2026 portal.
  • Click on the "Forgot enrollment ID"
  • The website will ask you to fill in your registered mobile number and email ID
  • OTP will be sent to the registered number to check the credibility.
  • After confirming the OTP, the GATE enrollment number will be sent to the registered mobile number or email ID.

Steps to retrieve the GATE password -

Candidates can follow the steps below to retrieve their GATE password -

GATE 2026 Application Status

The GATE 2026 application status denotes the current status of your application form. It informs you whether your application has been successfully submitted or not. With the help of the application status, candidates can track down their form status. To check the status, candidates can follow the steps below -

GATE 2026 Application Form Correction

The GATE 2026 registration correction facility last date is November 6. Candidates must note that the application status will be updated after scrutiny by the respective zonal GATE officers. Candidates must promptly rectify defects in their application within the stipulated time. Candidates are advised to log into the application portal and check the status of the defects from time to time.

Candidates can change the details they have already filled out by paying a fee per change. However, they cannot change more than one detail for a single fee payment. Candidates can check the detail-wise modification/correction fee in the table below. 

How to modify the already filled details?

The GATE 2026 application form correction facility will be activated after the completion of the form submission. The steps to make changes in the application form are as follows -

Step 2: Click on the link that reads, ‘GATE 2026 Online Application Processing System (GOAPS),’ appearing on the page

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.

Yes, candidates will get a scribble pad in the GATE exam 2026 to do the rough work. Candidates have to write their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it. However, the rough sheet must be returned after the completion of the exam.

The barcode present in the GATE admit card 2026 carries the candidate's information. It is required for a faster verification process and fraud prevention. So, make sure it does not get tampered. Carry multiple copies in case your GATE 2026 hall ticket is torn or tampered.

Well,  

As such, the GATE authorities have not mentioned anything regarding the black and white or colour printout of the GATE admit card to be carried or not. But it is better to carry a colour printout of the hall ticket to the exam centre Also, the admit card of GATE must be in A4 size format.
