How NTA Prepares JEE Main Result?

The JEE Main result is prepared by converting the raw marks of the candidates out of the aggregate marks in the exam into percentile scores. The percentile calculation is done for each subject - Maths, Physics, Chemistry and also the overall score is converted to percentile marks.

How does NTA convert raw marks into NTA score (Percentile score)

NTA score and percentile score are the same thing. NTA has a fixed formula to convert the raw score of the candidates into a percentile score or the NTA score. The formula is as follows:

Compilation of JEE Main 2026 Result

Check below how NTA calculates the percentile score:

Conversion of raw score into percentile score: The raw scores of candidates are converted to percentile scores in each subject, and also aggregate raw score is converted to percentile marks. This is done in both sessions of exam.

  • Raw score in Maths is converted to percentile score
  • Raw score in Physics is converted to percentile score
  • Raw score in Chemistry is converted to percentile score
  • Total raw score is converted to percentile score

The formula to calculate JEE Main Scores is as follows:

JEE Main 2020 Percentile Calculation

Final result compilation: After JEE Main 2026 April session result, final NTA score and AIR of the candidates are published.

  • The candidates who appear for both sessions of JEE Main exam, their best score out of both sessions (January and April) is considered their final marks.
  • The All India Ranks of candidates and category-wise ranks are published with the April session result.
  • JEE Main 2026 cutoff marks for JEE Advanced 2026 are also published.
