TS LAWCET/PGLCET Eligibility Criteria

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) will be conducting TS LAWCET 2025 for the five-year LLB and three-year LLB courses and TS PGLCET 2025 for the LLM programme. The exam date for the TS LAWCET 2025 and TS PGLCET have been announced. The TS LAWCET/ PGLCET Exam Date 2025 is June 6, 2025. Only candidates eligible as per the prescribed eligibility criteria for TS LAWCET 2025 and PGLCET 2025 will be shortlisted for final admission round. Candidates seeking admission to the five-year LLB courses through TS LAWCET in 2025 have to match the required conditions as, "candidates for 5 year LL.B. course should have passed two year Intermediate Examination (10 2 pattern) or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the University concerned or the Board of Intermediate Education, T.S. with 45% of aggregate marks for general category, 42% for OBC Category and 40% for SC/ST."

Q:   What is TS LAWCET qualifying criteria?
A:

The TS LAWCET qualifying criteria refer to the category-wise minimum marks that candidates need to pass the TS LAWCET 2024 exam. To qualify for the TS LAWCET exam, candidates in the general category and OBC category need a minimum of 35% marks, which is equal to 42 marks out of 120 marks.

There are no qualifying marks for the SC and ST category candidates. Thus, there is no minimum mark requirement for candidates belonging to this category through TS LAWCET. Admission for these candidates will depend on the cutoff marks of the college or colleges to which they apply for admission. 
 

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for 3-year LLB offered under TG LAWCET 2026?
A:

To be eligible for 3-year LLB course offered under TG LAWCET exam, candidates should be eligible based on following criteria:

  • Candidates should have passed garduation in a (10+2+3) format in any stream from a recognised university
  • Candidates who are appearing in the graduation final year.
  • General Category Candidates: 45%
  • OBC Candidates: 42%
  • SC / ST Category Candidates: 40%
  • There is no upper age limit
Q:   What are the eligibility criteria for LLM in TS LAWCET?
A:

The TS LAWCET LLM exam is called the TS PGLCET. The TS PGLCET eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

Educational Qualification
  • Candidates must have obtained a 3-year or 5-year LLB degree or a graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university.
  • Candidates who are appearing for their final year/semester of the LLB course can also apply for TS PGLCET. However, they need their final year marksheet at the time of TS PGLCET counselling.
Minimum Marks in qualifying exam
  • General & OBC: Minimum of 50% marks 
  • SC/ST/PwD: Minimum of 45% marks 
Age Limit
  • There is no age limit to apply for TS PGLCET.
  • They must be passed or appearing in Class 12 examination or equivalent examinations to be eligible for admission to the five-year LLB course
  • They must secure at least 45% marks in aggregate of all subjects in class 12th examination 
  • Those belonging to OBC category will be given 3% relaxation in the qualifying marks i.e. those who have secured 42% marks in the qualifying examination will also be considered eligible for admission. 
  • Those belonging to SC/ ST category will be given 5% relaxation i.e. they must have secured at least 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

Domicile criteria - As per the exam authority, "The candidate should be an Indian National and should satisfy Local/ Unreserved status requirement as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974 and the amendments made thereto from time to time." This means, those who want to claim a seat under reserved categories in Andhra Pradesh colleges must show domicile certificate or proof of attending educational institution in the state for last seven years at least.

TG LAWCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for 3-Year LLB Course

The eligibility criteria as mentioned by the exam authority is,"Candidates for 3-year LL. B. Course should have passed any Graduate Degree (10 2 3 pattern) of a recognized University or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Universities concerned with 45% of aggregate marks for general category, 42% for OBC Category and 40% for SC/ST. If any candidate secured less than 45%, 42% and 40% respectively in graduation as stated above, he should have secured same percentage or more on the aggregate in any Post Graduation or B.Ed."

Therefore, candidates seeking admission to the three-year LLB course must have: 

  1. Must have passed a three-year graduation degree in any stream. Those appearing in the final semester examinations of the graduation. 
  2. They must have secured at least 45% marks in aggregated of the qualyfing degee
  3. Those belonging to OBC category must have secured 42% marks, and those belonging to SC/ST category must have secured 40% minimum marks in the qualifying degree 

The domicile criteria for three-year LLB degree is also same as mentioned for the five-year LLB course.

TG PGLCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

TS PGLCET is conducted for admission to the LLM course offered by the colleges recognised by TSCHE. To get admission to the LLM progranne through TS PGLCET 2025, candidates will have to meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB/BL) of 3 or 5 years duration from a recognized university.
  • Candidates who are in the final year of their LLB/BL degree programme can also appear for the exam, but must have completed the degree and fulfilled all university requirements before counseling.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate is required for the LLB/BL degree for the General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories.
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories get a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks requirement, meaning they need a minimum of 45% marks.
Q:   Are non-local candidates eligible for TS PGLCET?
A:

Non-locals or candidates who do not belong to Telangana can apply for TS PGLCET. However, they need to make sure to meet exam eligibility criteria. The criteria are mentioned below:

Qualification
  • Candidates must have completed a 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB degree. 
  • Candidates appearing in the final year of their 3-year/5-year LLB degree can also apply for TS PGLCET 2025. These candidates need their final marksheet at the time of TS PGLCET counselling. The minimum marks requirement in the qualifying exam (LLB exam) must be met by them.
Qualifying Marks
  • The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test is 25% (i.e. 30 marks out of total 120 marks).
  • For candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes, no minimum qualifying percentage of marks is prescribed. 
Age Limit
  • There is no age limit to apply for TS PGLCET.
Q:   I have 1156 rank in TS PGLCET and I belong to BC-B category. Can I get a seat in a private college in Hyderabad?
A:

According to the information provided by you, you have some chances to get admission to LL.M. courses in a private law college in Hyderabad with a 1156 rank. However, because you are applying under the BC-B category, the number of seats available in this category will also determine whether you are admitted. You can submit an application for admission to the Mahatma Gandhi Law College in Hyderabad, the Padala Rama Reddi Law College, and the Adarsha Law College of Hanamkonda. Thereafter, the list of provisionally selected candidates for TS PGLCET will be released. You can refer to this list to ensure whether your are selected for the admission or not.

TS LAWCET/ PGLCET Age Eligibility 2025 

According to the exam authority, there will be no age limit for the law courses admissions. Candidates can apply for the five-year LLB course, as well as three-years LLB course irrespective of their age. It was also stated in the information bulltetin of the law entrance exam, "There shall be no Age restriction for the candidates seeking admission into LL. B. Courses, through appearing at TS LAWCET as per the Bar Council of India Lr. No. BCI/D/2337/2018(LE/Cir.4) dated 26.11.2018. The detailed information is available in the official website i.e. http://www.barcouncilofindia.org/" There is no upper age limit for the TS PGLCET. 

TS LAWCET Qualifying Percentage 2025

General and OBC candidates who appear for the TS LAWCET 2025 exam must score equal to or higher than the qualifying percentage determined by TSCHE. Candidates will only be eligible for admission if they obtain the minimum qualifying percentage in the TS LAWCET. There is no provision for a minimum qualifying percentage for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD categories. General and OBC candidates can check the qualifying percentage below:"
