A good score in the SLAT exam determines the candidate’s eligibility to seek admission to the Symbiosis Law School. Candidates can prepare for SLAT from Class 11 by practising topics from which questions are asked in the exam. The topics of subjects from which questions are asked in SLAT are Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension (English), and General Knowledge. Under the General Knowledge subject, SLAT aspirants also need to study static GK related to History, Geography, Indian and International Politics, and United Nations Organisation (UNO) and its bodies, and current affairs. To study the mentioned subjects for SLAT preparation from Class 11, candidates can purchase books containing sample papers, practice tests, and mock tests based on the SLAT syllabus and pattern. They can devote 1-2 hours every day to SALT preparation. Preparing for the SLAT from Class 12 can provide aspirants with a competitive edge because they will have more than a year to prepare for the entrance exam effectively.

Symbiosis Law School Pune offers BA LLB (Hons. ) and BBA LLB (Hons. ) through SLAT. Symbiosis Law School, Noida, offers BA LLB and BBA LLB. The law courses offered by Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad and Symbiosis Law School Nagpur are BA LLB and BBA LLB. Candidates who secure marks equal to or higher than the SLAT cutoff in a particular year can apply to study these law courses in the same year.
No, candidates cannot get admission to SLS Pune and the other three SLSs, namely, SLS Noida, SLS Hyderabad, and SLS Nagpur, without appearing in the SLAT exam.
Factors Determining SLAT 2027 Score
Candidates must note that the SLAT cutoff depends on the factors provided below:
- The difficulty level of the SLAT exam. If the exam is difficult, the cutoff goes LOW, and vice versa.
- Number of applicants appearing for the SLAT entrance test. If the applicants are way too many in comparison to the seats available, then the cutoff remains HIGH.
- The number of seats in colleges also decides the SLAT score. If the seats are high, the cut-off will be LOWER.
- SLAT Reservation Policy for SC/ST and OBC, along with the differently-abled sections. The cut-off too is different for reserved category candidates.

The Symbiosis International Law University has discontinued Writing Ability Test from the SLAT Admission Process from 2025 admission cycle.
No, you will not be called for the Personal Interview (PI) round for Symbiosis Law Schools if you haven't cleared the SLAT exam. Candidates must note that SLAT scores are mandatory for shortlisting. You need to score above the cut-off to get a PI call, and you must attend all parts of the PI to be eligible for admission.
SLAT exam authority uses University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for SLAT reservation policy. As per the exam authority, the total percentage of reserved seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates is 15. The total percentage of seats reserved for Scheduled Tries candidates in SLAT is 7.5%. The exam authority has reserved 5% of seats for wards of Defence Personnel at Symbiosis Law School Pune. The reservation facility for wards of Defence personnel is not available at the other three Symbiosis Law Schools. Moreover, 3% of total seats are reserved for Different Able candidates in all SLSs through SLAT.
Getting 45 or more marks in SLAT is mostly seen as a good score. It gives you a better chance of getting into a top Symbiosis Law School. If you're aiming for SLS Pune, the most competitive one, try to score around 48–52 marks. A score above 40 is still decent and can keep you in the race. The cutoffs change from one campus to another. SLS Noida usually needs around 42–47 marks, SLS Hyderabad about 38–44, and SLS Nagpur close to 36–41 marks.
