AP ICET 2025 normalisation process is adopted to eliminate any variation in the difficulty level of the various AP ICET exam sessions conducted. Authorities ensure that all session question papers are of same standard to avoid any variations. AP ICET 2025 exam was held on May 7, 2025 in offline mode.
The AP ICET normalisation process ensures fairness for candidates appearing in different slots of the same exam. AP ICET normalisation process eliminates any advantage or disadvantage caused by variations in the difficulty levels of the AP ICET question papers. The AP ICET 2025 exam was conducted in two slots, following the same exam pattern and syllabus for all candidates meeting the eligibility criteria. Since the question papers for each session may differ in difficulty, Normalisation is applied to maintain equity among candidates.
The AP ICET 2025 exam was held on May 7, 2025, with AP ICET results and rank cards were released on May 20, 2025. Ranks will be assigned based on candidates' scores after Normalisation. During the AP ICET 2025 counselling process, candidates will be allotted colleges based on their ranks.

What is Normalisation?
AP ICET normalisation process is a process for ensuring candidates are neither disadvantaged or advantaged as per the difficulty level of the examination conducted in multiple sessions. The normalisation process is based on a simple process that is being implemented in other state/national level entrance examinations for admission to undergraduate or postgraduate courses. Normalisation process ranks all the students who will appear for the exam across all sessions on a comparative scale.
In any normalisation process, the marks of the easier session may be reduced marginally, and the marks of the difficult session may be increased marginally, depending upon the average performance in each session. In case there is not much difference in the average of the two sessions then there won’t be much difference in the Normalisation marks.

AP ICET Normalisation Process
The AP ICET normalisation process aims to justify the candidates who appeared for the difficult session to an easier session. The task is to rationalise and rank the candidates based on the global performance. The method of normalisation has been adopted by national-level entrance examinations such as CAT, GATE, JEE (Main), etc. The committee has decided to use the following Normalisation process:
- SMS: (Average Standard Deviation) of the session in which the candidate belongs to
- GMS: (Average Standard Deviation) of all the candidates across all the sessions, altogether
- Top Average Session: Average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates in the session in which the candidate belongs.
- Top Average Global: Average marks of the top 0.1% of all the students across all the sessions together.
AP ICET Normalisation: Important Note
- For the candidates for whom there is no qualifying cutoff in AP ICET 2025 exam, if the marks in the entrance exam go negative after Normalisation, the total marks will be treated as zero, and the ranks will be assigned based on those marks. If the tie persists, the AP ICET Normalisation process will be considered for breaking the tie.
- The following is based on sample data to explain the Normalisation process. The data is based on an almost equal number of candidates in both sessions. The Normalisation is shown subject-wise so that the students get a benefit based on subject-wise performance rather than the entire paper in a session.
- Averages and Standard Deviations in a particular session and averages of top 0.1% candidates of a particular session, Global Average and Standard Deviations of all sessions together, Averages of top 0.1% candidates in all sessions are given in Table 1. Example data of normalised marks is shown in Tables 2 to 4.
