SNAP 2019 was conducted today at 90 exam centres across India. Check out SNAP 2019 student reactions and reviews.

SNAP 2019 exam was conducted today from 2 pm to 4 pm. The exam was conducted in online mode and as per the new exam pattern. This year, it was expected that the SNAP question paper will be difficult as the General Awareness section has been scrapped. Shiksha visited a SNAP 2019 test centre to know the opinion of the test takers. Here’s what they shared.

Vaishali from Indira Gandhi Technical University, Delhi said, " I've given SNAP exam. The level of difficulty was nominal and with comparison to CAT it was an easy paper and at the same time, the Quant section was quite a hefty one but LR section was easy to go with and Verbal section- if you have a good grammar then it is a very good subject to start with. The General Knowledge section was eradicated, and I am very happy that it was because it's very difficult. If you have attempted IIFT exam, then there also the GK section was very difficult."

Mayank from New Delhi said, "SNAP paper was pretty good, I think overall the difficulty level was medium. DI was between moderate to difficult and Maths was average and in English, RC was bit lengthy and it was hard to find the answers, and on the other end, the difficulty level was between easy to medium. LR section's difficulty was between easy to medium."

Avneet from Time Management Institute said, "Compared to CAT it was easier. Quant took more time as compared to other sections and LR was comparatively easy as I was expecting. 30 attempts were easily accessible in LR section while Quant somewhere took more time than I was expecting from previous years' question paper." When asked about removing the General Knowledge section, he said, "For me it was good thing because obviously most people who are preparing for MBA they are not aware of General Knowledge questions. It is good for most of us this year as compared to SNAP last year. No General Knowledge question (gave) more time for everything else."

Sneha Gupta said " According to me, SNAP examination was fine. Though the Maths section and the LR section was taking a little bit more time, I could not cover the whole section, but it was comparatively easy if I compare it to the CAT exam. It was good."

Anshika from Sagar Institute said," The exam was good. LR and DI sections were so simple. English was okay. I have not attempted much questions in maths. Overall exam was good. It was good that the exam did not have General Knowledge section as I am not good in GK."

Aditi said, "I came here to give my SNAP exam. It was not difficult. I didn't like the Maths portion, I left a few questions. The English section was okay, the questions were fine. It was not as difficult as it was the last year. Last year the exam pattern was different. This year, the question paper was fine.

Vipul Kapoor from Noida said, " Today I gave SNAP and I found it to be at par with the expectations of the average candidate. English section was vocabulary based which was unexpected. Overall difficulty level of the paper was average or a notch above average. The Quant section, as expected, it contained five explanation questions along with 35 normal questions, 34 questions were there in English, 36 questions were there in LR, and 36 questions in Quant. So, English and LR sections were below average and Quant section was average. The overall paper was quite easy. If a person has done enough practice for CAT as well as XAT or papers of higher difficulty level, then they can easily score in this paper."

The minimum marks of every SIU institute varies. While for SIBM Pune and SCHMRD the minimum cut off is usually 95-98 percentile, the cut offs for SSBF Pune is nearly 60.

There is no SNAP counselling fee to be paid. The fee is already charged in SNAP application fee per college selection.

SNAP candidates are not required to apply separately for all SIU campuses. They can select colleges in the SNAP application form. However, they need to fill the PI-shortlist form separately for whichever colleges they get shortlisted.

According to the latest SNAP exam pattern the paper will be divided into three sections. Every question will carry 1 mark and there is negative marking of 0.25.

·       English has 15 questions

·       Quants, DI-DS has 20 questions

·       A-LR has 25 questions

Between SNAP and NMAT, the former is considered easier in terms of difficulty level of the questions. However, SNAP is of 60 minutes in which candidates have to address 60 question. This makes SNAP more challenging than NMAT which is a test of longer duration (2 hours having 108 questions).

Usually it is recommended that Arun Sharma series (Verbal, Quant, DI), R.S. Aggarwal's Reasoning/Quant books, and Word Power Made Easy, are enough for SNAP preparation. Sample questions papers, mock tests, sectional test series are also important.

SNAP total marks is 60 so 40 to 45 marks can be considered a good score. It will convert into about 97-98 percentile. So, it the exam, candidates must aim to attempt 40 to 45 questions correctly.

Two months may not be enough to prepare for SNAP exam, if you are attempting it for the first time. However, you can try with a very specific and focussed plan. Check SNAP question papers of previous years to know dominant subjects. Study only those thoroughly and practice mock tests side by side.

SNAP syllabus is not difficult as it contains the same topics as other MBA entrance exams. But the key to SNAP preparation lies in practicing SNAP specific questions.
