JEE Main 2025: New Certificate Requirements Create Application Hurdles for OBC and EWS Students

The JEE Main 2025 January session application is open until November 22. However, OBC and EWS candidates are facing delays due to the new requirement to submit category certificate details. Check details here
JEE Main 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is accepting the JEE Main January session application form 2025 till November 22. Candidates willing to appear for engineering entrance exam can fill up the JEE Main 2025 application form at the official websites: jeemain.nta.nic.in. For the first time, OBC and EWS applicants are required to submit their category certificate ID, issue date, and the issuing officer’s name, making this information mandatory for completing the application.
OBC, EWS Students Must Provide Certificate Details in JEE Main 2025 Application Form
With the mandate of providing category details in the JEE Main application form, the OBC and EWS candidates are facing significant challenges. Unlike previous years, where only category information was required, they now need a complete certificate to apply, causing delays for those who don’t yet have one.
Many candidates have reached out to the NTA for assistance, but have not received a complete response, leaving them unable to proceed with their applications. Additionally, the process to get a category certificate involves lengthy formalities, further adding to the delays. In this situation, the NTA should consider providing flexibility for these students, as in previous years, or find an alternative solution to ensure they can apply by the deadline.
Aadhaar Details Required While Filling JEE Main Application Form 2025
This year, the Aadhaar number is also required for identity verification in the JEE Main 2025 application. If a candidate enters the Aadhaar number incorrectly, even with the correct name, or vice versa, the application cannot be completed. Therefore, before applying, they should ensure that the name and date of birth on their Aadhaar card match those on their 10th and 12th mark sheets to avoid issues during the JEE Main application process.

Aadhar enrollment number is a unique number which students can find in the acknowledgement receipt received at the time of applying for Aadhar. Students should know that Aadhar enrollment number is not same as Aadhar number. At the time of filling JEE Main application form, candidates have to fill Aadhar Enrollment number and not Aadhar number.
In case candidates do not have Aadhar enrollment number, students can apply through Passport, PAN or ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credit ID).
