JEE Main 2026 Notification - The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main 2026 information brochure comprising eligibility, syllabus, pattern and the detailed application process. The authority is conducting the JEE Main 2026 registration for session 1 from October 31 to November 27, 2025. The latest JEE Main 2026 notification is a clarification regarding the use of a calculator in the JEE Main exam. NTA states that the earlier mention of an on-screen JEE Main calculator was a "typo". The JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam date is January 21 to 30, 2026, while the session 2 exam will be held between April 2 and 9. Aspirants of the national-level JEE Mains exam will find the latest updates on the JEE Main exam notification here. JEE Main 2026 Advisory for the JEE Main Required Documents

The authority issued the first notification for JEE Mains 2026 on September 29, which was an advisory/instruction on the documents required for JEE Mains. The authority urged candidates to get their documents updated and ready for the JEE Main registration, set to begin in October 2025. Students had to ensure the following documents are updated:

  • Aadhaar Card: Make sure it is updated with the correct name, date of birth (as per Class 10th certificate), latest photograph, address and father's name.
  • UDID Card: Applicable for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates only. 
  • Category Certificate for EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL: Candidates must ensure it is valid, updated and renewed.
Q:   Are calculators allowed inside exam centre in JEE Main exam?
A:

Students are not allowed to carry calculators inside the exam centre in JEE Main exam. Students can use the virtual calculator available on the screen during the exam. Virtual calculators will be available on the computer screen of students during the JEE Main exam.

Q:   Where can I find important study materials for JEE Mains preparation?
A:
Students can check details about JEE Main important chapter and topics from this page. While it is necessary that students pay special attention to chapters with high weightage, it is highly advised that they cover the full JEE Mains syllabus. The question paper of JEE Main is prepared by considering the entire JEE syllabus which consists of topics from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics from class 11 and 12. Important study material for JEE Main like books or short notes can be checked online. Students who are taking coaching can get the study materials from the coaching institutes.

NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 dates on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The session 1 exam will be conducted  from January 21 to 30. JEE Main Exam Date 2026

The JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted in January (Session 1) and April (Session 2). The authority will announce the detailed JEE Main exam schedule 2026 through its notifications. The JEE Main dates will also include the schedules for registration, admit card, result and other related events. JEE Main Syllabus PDF

The JEE Main 2026 syllabus pdf has been published on the website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The syllabus lists down the topics that will be tested in the exam. Students must prepare as per the syllabus to make sure they cover all the topics. Last year, the authorities made major changes to the JEE Main exam pattern by removing the optional questions from Section B, making all the questions in the paper compulsory. There are no changes to the JEE Main syllabus or pattern for 2026. 

Q:   When will NTA release JEE Main exam city slip 2026?
A:

JEE Main city intimation slip 2026 will be available on the NTA official website jeemain.nta.ac.in tentatively in the third week of January for the session 1 exam. JEE Mains City slip have details about the JEE Main exam city in which the candidate is allotted the centre to appear in the exam and the date of exam. It helps candidates to plan their travel to the JEE Main exam centre in advance. JEE Main city intimation slip is different from the admit card.

Q:   Will there be any break in JEE Main 2026 exam?
A:

The total duration of JEE Main exam is 3 hours and the exam is conducted continuous without any break. Candidates have to enter the exam hall as per the scheduled time and can leave exam hall only after the completion of paper. The exam will have a total of 75 questions from 3 subjects, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

Q:   I am a diabetic student. Will eatable items like candy, chocolate be allowed for me to JEE Main exam?
A:

JEE Main aspirants who are Diabetic are allowed to carry sugar tablets, fruits like bananas, oranges, or apples, and a transparent water bottle as per NTA. Diabetic students are advised to keep a check on their health before and in between the exams to avoid any health issues.

  • No minimum marks for applying for JEE Mains

JEE Main number of attempts

  • Candidates can appear in JEE Main six times in three consecutive years after passing their class 12/qualifying exam
  • Two attempts in a year
