The minimum passing marks for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test varies, however, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII are: i) 50% for General category. ii) 45% for OBC NCL category. iii) 40% for SC/ST category.

The FTII JET stands for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Examination. It is conducted by the Film and Television of India, Pune which comes unfer the academic institut under Ministry of Information and Boradcasting, Government of India. Candidates who qualify in the exam will be eligible for PG Diploma Courses granted Master’s degree equivalence by AIU. PG Certificate Courses approved by AICTE.

FTII JET is conducted annually or once a year in 28 cities across the country. 

FTII JET is conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. The test paper for this annual entrance examination can be set by either of these institutes.

According to FTII, Pune's website, there are several scholarships that the institute offers and several others that potential students can avail. The institute offers the following scholarships based on merit and performance credits during the students' time there. 

1. Entrance Exam Merit - Given to toppers in each of the film wing courses; INR 12,500 per year. 
2. 1st Semester Merit - Given to the first 3 toppers; Common Module (Editing, Sound Recording & Sound Design, Art Direction & Production Design and Screenplay Writing); 1st topper get INR 24,000, 2nd gets INR 21,500 and the 3rd gets INR 19,000 every year
3. Given to acting topper; INR 24,000 / year
4. Given to screenplay writing topper; INR 24,000 / year
5. 2nd to 5th Semester Merit - Given to the 1st and 2nd topper of each course; INR 13,500 and INR 11,500 respectively.

There is a cut off which is defined after the exam is conducted. The FTII JET cut off is defined based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, total number of applicants who appeared in the exam and the shifts under which the exam is conducted. Candidates who score equal to or more than the FTII JET cut off will qualify in the exam. As far as the minimum passing marks of FTII JET varies, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII for General Category is 50% for General category while that for OBC NCL category is 45%.

No, there is no such provision for re-evaluation provided by the exam conducting authority for the FTII JET result. However, if candidates find any issue with their answer sheet they can request a review of their answer scripts within a specified time frame after the result declaration but the chances of redressal is very low.

Candidates who qualify in the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test will be called for the orientation and interview process or audition round (for screen acting). Candidates will be shortlisted for the second round based on the scores secured in the entrance test. After that the final result will be released. Once the results are declared, candidates will be then alloted the course as per their interest and ranks. 

The Paper-I of all the eligible appeared candidates is evaluated. On the basis of the performance in Paper-I, Paper-II (JET exam) is evaluated of only selected number of top scoring candidates (based on the respective category). The roll numbers of the candidates shortlisted for the evaluation of Paper-II, will be published on the website of JET. Further the shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview and orientation process.

The Film and Television of Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) is conducted in offline i.e. pen and paper mode. The question and answer booklet will be distributed to the candidate at least 10 minutes before the commencement of exam. The question paper will be MCQ-based and candidates will have to mark the correct option in the answer booklet.

As per the official notification, candidates seeking admission into FTII, Pune and SRFTI, Kolkata will have to go through the following process:

Step 1: JET Entrance Exam

The first step is the FTII JET exam for which candidates will have to appear in it after receiving their admit cards and qualify it. The written test will be conducted for 2 papers and the time duration will be of three hours. The test will be conducted in offline (pen and paper test) mode. The question paper will be into two parts – MCQ (multiple-choice questions) and Descriptive. 

Step 2: Audition (for screen Acting) Orientation and Interview

Candidates qualifying in the written test will be further shortlisted for Audition (only for Screen Acting), Orientation and Interview. 

Step 3: Result declaration

(For all other courses except Screen Acting) final joint merit list of FTII & SRFTI will be published. For screen acting, the performance of audition will also be analysed.

After joint merit lists, preferences will be obtained from the shortlisted candidates. They will be selected to a particular course in FTII & SRFTI. Counselling may be carried-out offline in Pune/Mumbai/ Kolkata or online.

Step 4: Undergo the medical test

Selected candidates will be required to undergo Medical Test as per the selection criteria of both institutes.

It is a bit tough to crack the FTII JET exam because FTII is the premier film making school in India and aspirants from all over India apply for this coveted exam making the competition a bit tough. To pass through the competition candidates will have to make a proper exam strategy and allot equal time to covering the whole syllabus, solving the question papers and leave good time for revision. In the FTII JET exam students will be judged on their intellectual skills, general studies, English, general knowledge and the prescribed syllabus.

No, the Film and Television Institute of India will conduct the JET counseling session in person. Candidates will have to appear in person for the counseling round. The minimum educational qualification required for candidates to apply for the FTII JET examination is graudation in any discipline. For sound engineering, candidate's need to have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Physics as a subject at senior secondary (10+2) level also they will have to qualify in the written examination of the Joint Entrance Test (JET) of 3 hours duration for 100 marks, conducted at examination centres around the country.

The FTII JET admit card 2025 admit card has been released on July 21, 2025 on the official website: applyadmission.net/ftii2025/. Only those candidates who have successfully filled and submitted the FTII JET application form will be issued admit cards. As per the admission process of JET exam, candidates first need to quaify in teh FTII JETe exam and subsequent rounds of the Orientation / Interview process. In the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) there are two papers - Paer 1 and 2. Yes, you can take FTII JET in Hindi. The questions that appear on FTII JET papers are presented in both Hindi and English. Examinees can pick either one. The institutes strictly asks the students not switch between the two while taking the test. Once you've answered a question in Hindi, you have to attempt all the questions in Hindi.

FTII JET is conducted offline (pen & paper based test).
