What is FTII JET?
FTII JET is conducted annually in centres across the country. It is conducted for admission to postgraduate and postgraduate diploma courses at two of the most renowned film and TV institutes in the country. A Joint Entrance Test (JET) is conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, or Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata to select students for admissions. There are two wings under FTII -
- Film Wing: It offers courses such as direction & screenplay writing, editing, acting, cinematography, feature film screenplay writing, sound designing and recording and art direction & production design
- Television wing: It offers courses such as direction, electronic cinematography, sound recording & television engineering, and video editing.
Students from across the country aspire to study film and TV at these famous institutes. Approximately 5 to 6 thousand students register for the exam every year. Relatively, the number of seats offered by the institutes is quite low. This makes the entrance test more and more competitive each passing year.
The FTII JET 2025 is conducted in two stages:

The FTII JET Result 1 is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the written examination and auditions, which carry a weightage of 30%.

No, there is no such provision for re-evaluation provided by the exam conducting authority for the FTII JET result. However, if candidates find any issue with their answer sheet they can request a review of their answer scripts within a specified time frame after the result declaration but the chances of redressal is very low.
Candidates who qualify in the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test will be called for the orientation and interview process or audition round (for screen acting). Candidates will be shortlisted for the second round based on the scores secured in the entrance test. After that the final result will be released. FTII JET Reservation Criteria 2025
In each course, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to “Non-Creamy” layer (OBC-NCL), and 10% for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as Gen-EWS. Further, 5% of total seats are reserved on a horizontal basis for Persons with benchmark Disabilities.
AGE LIMIT- Candidate must be above 21 years of age. There is no upper limit specified by Institute for candidates.
NATIONALITY- There are no nationality or residential criteria specified by FTII. Candidates can belong to any nationality or can be a resident of any area.

Step 3: Result declaration
(For all other courses except Screen Acting) final joint merit list of FTII & SRFTI will be published. For screen acting, the performance of audition will also be analysed.
After joint merit lists, preferences will be obtained from the shortlisted candidates. They will be selected to a particular course in FTII & SRFTI. Counselling may be carried-out offline in Pune/Mumbai/ Kolkata or online.
Step 4: Undergo the medical test

You might already know that you have to carry your admit card to the FTII JET exam centre. You can take two copies just to be safe. Also, carry a government issued photo ID like your Aadhaar Card, PAN Card or Driver's License. And you can only take the test with a blue/ black ball point pen, so carry those.
No, candidates can't change the exam centre after finally submitting the FTII JET application form. The test centre cannot be changed once candidates have filled it as there is no application correction window provided by the exam conducting authority. If candidate's want a change in the exam centre they will have to inform the exam conducting officials regarding this however, there the chances for the changes are slighter.

No, FTII does not offer undergraduate degree courses. They only offer postgraduate Diploma and certificate courses under their film wing and television wing. However, they do have one Undergraduate Certificate course in Animation & Visual Effects Design.
