
The Film and Television Institute of India will release FTII JET 2026 form online on its official website. The form will be out tentatively in the third week of June 2026. Students who wish to get admission at FTII and study postgraduate, PG diploma, or PG certificate course in Film and TV wing must apply for the entrance test before the deadline. The last date to fill FTII JET application form and pay online fee will be announced by FTII.
The exam will be conducted in two stages - Stage 1 (written test) and Stage 2 (interview). To secure a seat at FTII, a candidate must appear for both stages and pass the document verification and medical test rounds. What is FTII JET?
FTII JET is conducted annually in centres across the country. It is conducted for admission to postgraduate, and postgraduate diploma and certificate courses at two of the most renowned film and TV institutes in the country - Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata. There are two wings under FTII -
- Film Wing: It offers courses such as direction & screenplay writing, editing, acting, cinematography, feature film screenplay writing, sound designing and recording and art direction & production design
- Television wing: It offers courses such as direction, electronic cinematography, sound recording & television engineering, and video editing.
Students from across the country aspire to study film and TV at these famous institutes. Approximately 5 to 6 thousand students register for the exam every year. Relatively, the number of seats offered by the institutes is quite low. This makes the entrance test more and more competitive each passing year.

FTII JET is conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. The test paper for this annual entrance examination can be set by either of these institutes.

- Register for JET
Fill FTII JET 2026 application form available on the official website. Create a login ID and provide the required details. Once the details are filled in, candidates have to confirm their registration at applyadmission.net/ftii2025/
- Fill FTII JET application form
Candidates have to log in with their application number and date of birth to complete the second step of their registration. In this step, candidates have to provide their personal information, such as address, ID proof number, educational details, etc.
- Select Test Centre
FTII JET is conducted in 26 cities across the country. At the time of registration, candidates have to select three test cities from drop down menu that correspond to their preferences. After the registration process is over, candidates are allotted one of two preferred cities. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he/ she will be allotted a different nearby city. FTII will release centre details in the admit card so candidates can make required travel and accomodation arrangements.
- Upload Documents
The next step is to upload a photograph, signature, educational documents and reservation certificates (if any). Candidates must upload documents in FTII JET application, in the prescribed size and format. Any unclear or wrong document will result in the cancellation of application. After uploading documents, candidates have to select FTII JET course they wish to pursue through FTII JET entrance exam. As per FTII, candidates can select maximum 2 courses from Group A and/or B. It is essential because the application fee will be determined based on the number of courses selected.

Once all fields of application form are filled, next step is to pay application fee. Applicants can pay this fee via credit cards, debit cards, or UPI.
Note: Please note that for the courses that are offered by both institutes, applicants must pay the registration fee only once, and they will be considered for admission to both institutes. Note: Candidates appearing for the final year of their Bachelor’s degree and awaiting results, can also apply for all PG Diploma and PG Certificate courses. FTII JET Reservation Criteria 2026
In each course, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to “Non-Creamy” layer (OBC-NCL), and 10% for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as Gen-EWS. Further, 5% of total seats are reserved on a horizontal basis for Persons with Disabilities, with 40% or more disability.
AGE LIMIT- Candidate must be above 21 years of age. There is no upper limit specified by the Institute for candidates.
NATIONALITY- There are no nationality or residential criteria specified by FTII. Candidates can belong to any nationality or can be residents of any area.

It is possible to crack Stage 1 of FTII JET exam through self-study as it is a written exam. However, cracking FTII JET stage 2 exam with self-study is not possible. The stage 2 exam includes practical assessment of a candidate through screenacting and screenwriting. For these exams, it is advised that a candidate take help and guidance from teacher, guide, peer, seniors, coaching institute, etc.
The FTII JET admit card 2026 admit card will be released a week before the exam date. Only those candidates who will fill and submit FTII JET application form will be issued hall ticket. No candidate will be allowed to take FTII JET exam without admit card. FTII JET 2026 exam is expected to be conducted in July.

You might already know that you have to carry your admit card to the FTII JET exam centre. You can take two copies just to be safe. Also, carry a government issued photo ID like your Aadhaar Card, PAN Card or Driver's License. And you can only take the test with a blue/ black ball point pen, so carry those.
No, candidates can't change the exam centre after finally submitting the FTII JET application form. The test centre cannot be changed once candidates have filled it as there is no application correction window provided by the exam conducting authority. If candidate's want a change in the exam centre they will have to inform the exam conducting officials regarding this however, there the chances for the changes are slighter.
Once the application form is submitted, the candidate cannot change the exam center at any stage. The change of examination center will be entirely at the discretion of the exam conducting authority and the candidates will be liable to follow the instructions.
