With nearly 85% of PG seats allocated in Round I and a swift response from candidates, DU’s streamlined admission process reflects its commitment to accessibility and efficiency.
The University of Delhi (DU) has successfully allocated 11,314 seats in the first round of postgraduate (PG) admissions for the 2025-26 academic year, with 1,967 candidates accepting their allotments within two hours of the announcement.
This marks a significant milestone in DU’s admission process, launched on Tuesday, June 17, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh.
During a press conference on June 17, Prof. Singh unveiled DU’s admission policy for 2025-26, launching the admission portal and the 'Bulletin of Information' for undergraduate (UG), postgraduate, 5-year integrated law, B.Tech., PhD, and School of Open Learning (SOL) programs. The event also saw the launch of registration portals for 5-year integrated law and B.Tech. programs, alongside the commencement of allocation-cum-admission for PG courses.
Prof. Singh announced that 53,609 candidates registered for 82 PG programs, competing for 13,432 seats, including those under the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). The registration window, open from May 16 to June 12, 2025, saw 23,117 male, 30,490 female, and 2 transgender applicants. Among DU’s unique programs, 57,222 registrations were recorded, with LLB leading at 9,270 applications, followed by MA Political Science with 4,996. Additionally, 1,131 applications were received for the single girl child quota and 90 for the orphan quota in PG programs.
This year, DU introduced two new PG courses: MA in Hindi Journalism and MA in Tourism Management. An MA in English Journalism is also set to begin soon. To enhance inclusivity, a single girl child quota reserves one seat per PG program. The UG admission process has been upgraded with a direct auto-accept mode in the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal to prevent applicants from missing allotments. Prof. Singh noted that the CSAS portal is mobile-friendly but recommended using laptops or desktops for full functionality.
Admissions for NCWEB, open to female candidates from Delhi NCT, will start soon, based on Class 12 merit scores. Prof. Singh highlighted that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) has diversified DU’s student body, attracting applicants from small towns and state boards across India. The academic session is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2025.
