CSIR NET Syllabus 2026: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will issue the Syllabus for the CSIR NET 2026 exam for the June session on the official website at csirnet.nta.nic.in. The syllabus will be issued along with the CSIR NET Notification. The syllabus is like a blueprint for candidates as it provides understanding about the topics that are asked in the examination and candidates need to prepare it accordingly. It helps candidates to prepare a strategy or structure, identify the high weightage topics and prepare their schedule accordingly for frequent revision. The CSIR NET exam is expected to be conducted in second or third week of June 2026.

The CSIR NET exam is held by the NTA to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor in the universities and colleges of India.

CSIR NET Syllabus 2026

CSIR NET is a national level examination which is held in June and December session. The question paper is divided into three parts with a maximum score of 200. Part A is about General Aptitude where as Part B and C cover subjects. Syllabus gives the list of detailed topics asked in the examination and enable candidates to focus on relevant concepts.The CSIR NET Syllabus five subjects names are given below:

CSIR UGC NET Syllabus 2026: Part A, B & C

The CSIR NET Syllabus of Part A of all five subjects is the same. Part A contains questions related to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analysis and Research Aptitude. Part A contains 20 MCQs and candidates are required to answer any 15 questions. Each question carries two marks. The total marks allocated to Part A are 30 out of the total 200. CSIR NET Life Science Syllabus 2026

In Part B, 40 MCQs are asked generally covering the topics as provided in the syllabus. A candidate need to answer 35 questions. Each question shall be of two marks. In CSIR NET Physical Science paper, part B contains 25 MCQs generally covering the topics given in the Part A (Core) of the syllabus. Each question carried 3.5 marks. Total marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200. Where as Part C contain 30 questions from Part B (Advanced) and Part A that are designed to test a candidates' knowledge of scientific concepts. CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2026: Overview

The CSIR NET Exam Pattern involves the structure of the exam question paper including the total of subjects, questions, exam duration and marking scheme. Have a look at the highlights of the exam pattern below:

  • The CSIR NET Question Paper of each paper is divided into three sections- Part A, B and C
  • The CSIR NET Part-A comprises General Aptitude questions that assess the candidates’ teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension skills, divergent thinking and general awareness

Q:   Can a candidate apply for more than one subject in the CSIR NET exam?
A: 

No, a candidate cannot apply for more than one subject in the CSIR NET exam. Candidates can only apply for one subject as per the exam cycle. 

Q:   What is the salary of CSIR JRF?
A: 

As per the official website, stipend of a JRF selected through CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) will be Rs 37,000/ p.m for the first two years. In addition, annual contingent grant of Rs. 20,000/- per fellow will also be provided to the fellow.

Q:   What is the upper age limit to apply for the CSIR NET exam?
A: 

As per the information bulletin, the upper age limit for the CSIR NET exam should not be more than 30 years as on the first day of the month in which the examination is concluded. A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the Central list of OBC) /SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/Third gender categories and to women applicants.

The CSIR NET stands for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test. It determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for the 'award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor.' Also, appointment as 'Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.' and 'admission to Ph.D. only' in several Indian universities and colleges.

The CSIR NET JRF certificate is valid for two years from the date mentioned on the certificate.
