In order to be considered eligible for Assistant Professor, candidates need to obtain the JKSET qualifying marks 2024. Have a look at the JKSET qualifying marks below:

There is no negative marking in the JKSET exam. Candidates are awarded 2 marks for each correct answer in the JKSET exam and no marks for unattempted questions or wrong answers. The JKSET exam carries a total of 300 marks (Paper 1 + Paper 2). The JKSET Paper 1 holds the weightage of 100 marks and Paper 2 carries 200 marks. Candidates need to give both papers to qualify the exam.

The University of Jammu released the JKSET notification 2024 on June 5, 2024, on the official website- jujkset.in. The JKSET 2024 notification has been released as a PDF download file containing all the important details regarding the exam including exam date, eligibility criteria, qualification, application process, pattern, syllabus and qualifying criteria. 

Candidates need to fulfill the JKSET eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification to be eligible to apply for the exam. Have a look at the JKSET educational qualification below:

• Candidates with at least 55 per cent marks or an equivalent grade (50 per cent for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD) in Master’s Degree or equivalent exam from Universities/ Institutions recognised by UGC.

• Candidates who appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree exam and whose result is still awaited will be admitted provisionally and will be awarded the eligibility for Assistant Professor after they pass the Master’s degree exam.

• PhD degree holders who completed the Master’s degree exam by September 19, 1991, are given a relaxation of 5 per cent in aggregate marks for appearing in JKSET/ LASET.

• Candidates who have already passed the UGC NET/ CSIR NET exam before 1989 are exempted from appearing in JK SET.

The JKSET exam is conducted once every year. However, it is solely upon the University of Jammu to decide on the frequency of the JKSET exam. The JKSET exam carries two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 and both the papers are compulsory to attempt. The University organizes the exam in separate shifts without any break.

The JKSET/LASET 2025 exam was held on September 7, 2025. The JKSET exam was held offline in pen and paper mode. The JKSET 2025 exam was conducted for a total of 41 subjects at three centres - Jammu, Srinagar and Leh. The JKSET/ LASET exam was held to determine the eligibility of a candidate for the Assistant Professor post in the universities and colleges of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The last date for the final submission of the JKSET application form was February 10, 2025. Earlier, the last date to apply online for the JK SET exam was July 26, 2024. The JK SET application window was reopened from February 2 to 10, 2025. Candidates were required to fill and submit the JKSET applications 2024 timely. The JK SET exam will be held on April 27, 2025.

The JKSET 2024 application form was released on June 11, 2024. The JKSET application form 2024 was available from June 11 to July 26, 2024. Candidates could pay the JKSET application fee 2024 till July 20, 2024, without a late fee. Moreover, candidates could pay the JKSET exam fee 2024 till July 25, 2024, with a late fee of INR 600. The last date for final submission of the JKSET application form 2024 was July 26, 2024. The JK SET application was reopened on February 3, 2025 and was available till February 10, 2025.

Candidates need to upload scanned documents (photo and signature) while filling out the JKSET application form. The JKSET photo and signature should be in jpg/ jpeg format and the size should be less than 50Kb. The scanned photo should either be in colour or black & white with 80 per cent face visible including ears against white background.

There is no age limit to appear for the JKSET examination. Candidates only need to posses Master's Degree with 55% marks (50 % for SC/ ST/ PwD) to apply and appear for the JK SET/ LASET exam. There is no upper age limit as well. Candidates can appear for the exam for any number of times till they attain the desired scores.

No, PhD is not compulsory for the JK SET exam. However, PhD degree holders who did their Master's degree or post-graduation by September 19,  1991 get relaxation of 5% for appearing in JKSET exam. In this case, the date of declaration of Master's degree result is not applicable.

Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in Master's Degree or equivalent exam from UGC-recognised universities and institutions are eligible for JKSET/ LASET exam. However, reserved category candidates such as SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender need 50% marks. Moreover, Candidates who appeared or are appearing for the Master's degree exam and awaiting the results can also apply for the exam. There is no upper age limit to appear for the JK SET exam.

Candidates can know their JK SET exam centre by downloading their admit cards. The JK SET admit card is released around a week before the exam informing the candidates about the allotted JKSET exam centre name and address. The admit card also informs the reporting time at the JK SET examination centre. Candidates cannot request for the change in the exam centre. So, candidates should choose the exam centre wisely while filling out the application form.

No, a candidate cannot the digital copy of the JK SET admit card at the examination centre. Candidates need to carry the printout of the JK SET admit card to the test centre. The JKSET admit card is an important document containing crucial information such as candidate name, photo, subject, allotted exam centre name, address, exam date, shift timings, reporting time etc. The admit card serves as an identity proof for candidates for entry into the exam centre.
