Know the exam pattern and syllabus of CG PAT 2026

Candidates preparing for the CG PAT exam should first know important details of the question paper, including exam pattern and syllabus as under:

  • Exam mode- The exam will be held in a pen-and-paper-based test mode
  • Exam duration - The exam duration of CG PAT 2026 will be for three hours.
  • Test medium - The questions will be asked in English and Hindi. 
  • Type of questions - There will be questions with four choices of which one is the correct answer. 
  • Total questions - All the papers will have a total of 200 questions based on three subjects. 
  • Total marks - The total marks allotted the question paper is 200 marks
  • Marking scheme - For each correct attempt, one mark will be awarded. No marks will be deducted in case of wrong attempts. 
  • Syllabus - CPEB has mentioned the subject-wise syllabus for CG PAT in offiicial notification, then check that. 
  • Sectional weightage - The 200 questions of CG PAT will be divided for streams as under:

The SC/ST/OBC and PwD categories must be 28 years old when applying for the CG PAT Exam 2026.

Tips to prepare for CG PAT 2026

Besides, knowing the exam pattern, and syllabus, and gathering resources, candidates should prepare for the entrance exam with the help of the tips below: 

Section-wise preparation - Candidates have to score well in each section of CG PAT 2026 to get an overall good score. Therefore, it is wise to prepare with a focus on each subject. Schedule time to cover the syllabus of each subject. There is no negative marking in the examination, however, only correct attempts will be taken into the final evaluation. Therefore, do away with the guessing game plan to attempt the exam. Clarify all the theories as well as, numerical ones to at least know the basics. Don't focus on English, if you are comfortable in Hindi then practice for the examination in the Hindi language as the questions will be available in both languages. 

Practice last year's Question papers - To familiarize with the type of questions asked in the exam, candidates are advised to practice the previous years' papers or mock test papers. The papers are based on the subjects and syllabus of CG PAT. Many experts have solved the past years' papers and published it as books, candidates can take help of that to practice. The mock test papers will analyse the preparation level of the candidates and give them insights on key improvement areas. Moreover, candidates can keep practising the papers until the last week of gain test-taking skills including speed and accuracy to attempt the exam.

Revise with a proper plan - It is best to revise with a strategy to retain all you have prepared and score well in the exam. Allocate at least six hours a day to revise and practise the mock tests.
