Questions were designed in such a manner to test their analytical and practical approach of the concerned subject. Maximum number of candidates who have appeared in the IIT JAM 2024 exam had their first attempt in the examination. The Chemistry section has been rated as easy to moderate. Some of the topics included Molar Conductivity, Magnetic Moments, Titration, Bonds, etc. As per some candidates, the MCQ questions were tougher than the MSQs and NAT questions. The Geology section has questions from topics such as geomorphology, mineralogy, and petrology were moderately difficult.
Similar to other courses, students will be asked 100 questions in a duration of 90 minutes. Each question will carry one mark. Questions will be asked from the sections/subjects of physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Section-wise number of questions are provided in the table below
