CUSAT BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
Cochin University of Science and Technology is a government-owned autonomous university in Kochi, Kerala. CUSAT BTech is offered in Engineering specialisations. The university also provides lateral entry admission to BTech courses. Some of the specialsiations are BTech in CSE, Polymer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Marine Engineering, etc. The eligibility is as follows:
- Regular Entry: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and a minimum aggregate ranging from 45% to 60% depending on the choice of specialisation and reservation category
- Lateral Entry: A three-year Diploma in Engineering/ Technology by a Board of Technical Education recognised by DTE, Government of Kerala/ DPT/ DPMT with a minimum aggregate of 60% (55% for SEBC candidates of Kerala NCL).
Selection Process:
- CUSAT CAT conducted by the university (except for BTech in Marine Engineering).
- For BTech in Marine Engineering valid scores in IMU CET are needed

BTech (LE)
10% of the total strength of Individual Branches of Regular BTech programmes plus any vacant seats in each branch in the previous year batch. 50% of total seats are under All India Merit and 50% are under State Merit. An additional 10% of the total seats will be available under EWS (Economically Weaker Section) as supernumerary seats over and above the sanctioned strength.
Seat Reservation
- Out of the total approved seats of Self-financing BTech programmes 50% are earmarked as State Merit Seats with lower rate of fees.
- Out of the total approved seats of Self-financing BTech programmes 45% of seats are earmarked as All India Merit Seats with higher rate of fees.
- For the regular B Tech Programmes viz. B Tech in (Naval Architecture and Ship Building), BTech (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) and BTech (Polymer Science and Engineering) and for all programmes other than self-financing B Tech Programmes 10% of the total approved seats are earmarked as All India Quota.

CUSAT admission to BTech course is based on CUSAT CAT score. The university also conducts a Lateral Entry Test (LET) to select candidates for BTech (LE) courses. LET is a three-hour test including 200 objective-type questions designed to test proficency in English, Mathematics, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Graphics and General Engineering.
The university selects candidates for BTech (PT) courses based on merit in the last qualifying exam and admission test conducted by the department. CUSAT also considers the number of years of experience of candidates after obtaining the diploma.
The total tuition fee for CUSAT BTech ranges between INR 85,800 and INR 8.6 lakh. The fee is taken from an unofficial source. Hence, is indicative. Shortlisted candidates need to pay the course fee after completion of the selection rounds to confirm their seat. Apart from tuition fee, the total fee structure includes library fee, lab fee, caution deposit, etc.
