The college provides good placements and internships.
Placements: About 75-80% placed in my course. The average package is 25 LPA. The highest was around 45 LPA. Top recruiters are Bajaj, Jaguar Land Rover Limited, Godrej Properties, and Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., Hero MotoCorp Limited, Honda R&D, Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Bharat Petroleum Limited, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is always on and offers high-speed data nonstop. New labs are well-maintained. Classrooms are also clean, and every room has AC, light, a projector, etc. Medical facilities are free of cost. Mess food is average. Many hostels have night canteens, and they offer tasty food. Sports complexes are well-maintained and spacious for students to play in.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable in their respective domains. Some can teach very nicely, while others are not. It makes students industry-ready. Max's semesters were hectic and very demanding. As time passed, we were able to manage. The pass percentage is 30%.

B.Tech in mechanical engineering at IIT Bombay – A transformative journey of learning and growth.
Placements: Placements in B.Tech mechanical engineering at IIT Bombay are decent, with a placement rate of around 85%-90% of students. The median package is 10 LPA-14 LPA, with top roles up to above 25 LPA. Core recruiters like Tata Motors, ISRO, GE, and L&T hire in large numbers, along with consulting and analytics companies like McKinsey and EXL. A decent number of students also opt for higher studies or research.
Infrastructure: IIT Bombay provides very good infrastructure facilities in mechanical engineering. The department has well-designed modern labs, CAD/CAM labs, CNC centers, thermal, robotics, and design labs. The classrooms are smart and Wi-Fi connected. The Central Library is gigantic and available in late hours. The hostels are good with high-speed internet facilities, clean toilets, common rooms, and laundry. Sports, gym, medical, and mess facilities are very good and available.
Faculty: The IIT Bombay faculty, especially in mechanical engineering, is research-oriented, experienced, and helpful. There are PhDs from elite institutions among most of the professors, and a strong academic and practical foundation. The program is rigorous and industry-focused, and core and interdisciplinary courses are taught with substantial lab work and projects. Semester exams are concept-focused and reasonably challenging. The pass percentage is good, and academic guidance is good reasonably challenging. Pass percentage is good, and academic guidance is good.

Satisfaction of hostel facilities.
Placements: The highest and the lowest package in mechanical engineering at IIT Delhi is INR 2.4 CPA and INR 10 Lacs. The average package in the department is INR 20 Lacs. Overall, around 87% of the students were placed last year. The placement overall is very good.
Infrastructure: The facilities available for the course/department are quite satisfactory. On the contrary, the facilities provided at the hostel are not. I stay at Himadri hostel, and there is no facility of a gym, very less spacious visitor room, and low-quality food is provided.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are helpful and knowledgeable, and you can reach out to them at any hour through various means. The semester exams are relatively tough according to what is taught in lectures. Most of the professors are friendly, but some of them are not.

Best infrastructure I had ever seen in college.
Placements: 70% of passed students got good placements in national and multinational companies which was the best thing about this college. Tata and Wipro were top companies for internships. 7 LPA was the lowest package, and 1 crore was the highest package. Best IIT in India.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure was great as all the requirements of course were available in college such as labs and machines. Hostel was little mess but it's bearable. Wi-Fi speed was great, and it worked in every corner of college seamlessly. It had constant internet speed.
Faculty: All teachers were qualified and knowledgeable. They helped you with your studies if asked. The course had relevant topics and made students industry-ready. The passing percentage of IIT was 40% in every subject and if not then you could clear back at end of semester.

Great infrastructure and facilities, but faculty and placements need improvement.
Placements: Total 87.69% students were placed. The packages offered were 1 crore (highest), 10 Lacs (lowest) and 36 Lacs (average). Top recruiting companies for our course- Goldman, TCS, Infosys, Ford motors, H&M. 80% students got internship from our course in companies like WorldQuant- A quant researcher internship, Uber- A software engineer internship and Apollo 24/7: An operations management internship. Top job roles offered in our course are Mechanical Design Engineer: Design, develops, and tests mechanical systems and components; Manufacturing Engineer: Plans and oversees the manufacturing process for mechanical products; Automotive Engineer: Design, develops, and tests vehicles and their components, Aerospace Engineer: Design, develops, and tests aircraft and spacecraft, Maintenance Engineer: Optimize the functions of equipment and machineries to ensure that they are working as required and Nuclear Engineer: Responsible for the smooth functioning of a nuclear power plant. Other roles for mechanical engineers include: Production Engineer, Quality Control Engineer, Process Engineer, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Renewable Energy Consultant, Mechanical Device Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer, Process Development Engineer and Electro-Mechanical Engineer.
Infrastructure: -Wi-Fi facilities in labs, classrooms and library are completely perfect. Everything is very well maintained but hostels are not well maintained and are in a poor condition. - the quality of everything in our hostel varies from poor to average level, -Excellent course infrastructure but limited resources for extracurricular activities.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable but do not teach properly. IIT Delhi courses have L-T-P structure, which indicates the number of hours for lectures, tutorials, and practical per week. For example, a 3-1-2 course has three hours of lectures, one hour of tutorials, and two hours of practical per week.
Other: I chose it because the education is more practical than theoretical. RDV is the biggest fest at our college and it is just amazing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Which college is better for B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering: IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay?
ShikshaGPT says
A:

The course outline of mechanical in IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay is similar and is quite well aligned with the course structure of top ranked international universities and the mechanical is one of the most desired and demanded branches in the IITs. The universities stand on similar QS ranking level and the facility and quality of infrastructure on average is almost the same in both the campuses, IITB has a lake, a pretty larger campus than that of IITD whereas IITD stands in a very desired location of Delhi ( in Hauz Khas) which stands very close to the international airport and various railway stations and is comparatively very green and clean than the outer Delhi. The trends of placement or students going for further studies differ very less and if you are really relying on placements to be a deciding factor, you'll still be in doubt. If we look at the opening and closing ranks of the department in both the colleges, the mechanical in IITB opens before it starts at IITD and also closes some numbers before, but the range is quite same. Many people choose IITB for its past trend or some local variables and similarly people also choose IITD if they aspire to go for civil services as Delhi is the hub for the preparation for UPSC and other civil services and again the accessibility of the nearby regions. I'd say both of the campus stand on the same level if the department is considered, the selection is totally depend on the individual depending on the local variables that affects him/her.

The overall admission process for an M.Tech in IIT Delhi (regular category) is the same irrespective of your qualifying degree. Write the GATE exam. Wait for the results of the GATE exam to be declared. The PG admissions portal of all the IITs will go live within 10 to 15 days of declaring the resul

Hi Pranav, SAT is not required for Indian applicants, so there is no need to stress over it. If you do take a score of 1450 is good. Check the application requirements on the websites. For Indian applicants JEE is the requirement.

No, it is not possible. IITs in no case provides lateral admission to anyone, not even accepts a college transfer from any institute even if it is an IIT. The only means you can get admitted into B.Tech programme of IIT is by appearing in JEE Mains followed by JEE Advanced.

No, you can not enroll for any B.tech program at IIT Delhi in any way other way. The eligibility criteria is to qualify JEE mains and advance.

The admission in any of the IITs is strictly based on the rank secured in JEE advanced examination. If your rank is good, then you can get mechanical engineering at IIT Delhi. If you have not given the JEE Mains and Advanced then you cannot get admission.
