Now, we are not so satisfied because our studies are not going offline.
Placements: 90% students were placed last year. The highest package - 19 Lacs, Average package - 12 Lacs, the lowest package - 7 Lacs. 10% students got internship and most of the students didn't even applied. Robotic design engineer, Biomedical design engineer, Automobile design engineer.
Infrastructure: High-speed Wi-Fi, Proper Labs, AC Classrooms, 24 hrs library - these are the facilities to make the student's future as per their wantings. The facility of hostel is not too wealthy, Mess food is not up to taste, medical facilities are very active, sports and games are highly supported.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are themselves researching in their field, so they take very interest in student's doubt or queries. Yes, this course is very relevent for design oriented students. Yes, this course has a2z learning capacity. Semester exams are dependent whether the semester was tough or easy.
Other: To get the best college of India. The scopes in India should get improve. Events are enough for now.

One of the best colleges to be studying in.
Placements: The placement scenario at IITM is pretty good. 90+% students get placed while the rest opt for higher studies. Average salary is in the range of 10-15lpa in core mechanical fields and 8-16lpa in non core fields. Top recruiters are P&G, ITC, Tata motors, Jaguar, Airbus 70-80% of the students get internships through the internship drive on campus in both core and non core companies like P&G, ITC, ABinBev, Wipro etc.
Infrastructure: IIT Madras has a top notch infrastructure for mechanical engineering. We have extensive facilities for research in all fields of mechanical engineering. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors, speakers and wacom tablets so professors can make the class more interactive. Though the hostels are quite old, the hostel life is pretty good with single rooms allotted from second year and up. The Wi-Fi in hostels is usually a 100mbps network while it can go to 200-300mbps in some labs. There are plenty places for food other than the mess that stay open 24x7. Sports infrastructure is also quite good with an Olympic size swimming pool, synthetic track for athletics, athletic stadium, indoor stadium for sports like table tennis, squash, weightlifting and yoga. There is also a separate gymnasium for fitness. There are 4 synthetic tennis courts on campus, two cricket grounds, 2 football grounds, and a hockey ground.
Faculty: The faculty are among the best in the country with many having Ph.D. and postdoc experience at top universities across the world. They are quite knowledgeable in their respective fields and do cutting edge research. The course curriculum is quite broad and flexible with almost 40% of the credit requirements being electives left for the student to choose from a very wide variety of courses. The core courses teaches one enough to make an informed decision in choosing the career path.
Other: The best place for mechanical engineering in the country is IITM and I consider myself lucky to have gotten into such a selective programme. Though the courses are becoming more practical with a lot of courses involving some kind of project work, I would like to see more courses with theory and lab classes combined so that students get a better hands on experience. Events and extracurriculars are plenty here at IITM. One can simply not attend all the events happening on campus because of the sheer number of events. The cultural fest and tech fest, Saarang and Shaastra are among the largest in the country and attract participants from all across India. For year round activities, we have a lot of healthy and active clubs on campus that organise regular events and competitions.

Great learning experience.
Placements: It's a random mess if you don't have a CGPA higher than 8.5 as most of the companies that come just hire the 10% people with a high CGPA. Sometimes it gets, like a random mess and you will start to get frustrated. It's kind of a depressing phase, but if you do get placed, it's amazing.
Infrastructure: There are great infrastructure facilities in my department. Regarding the classrooms and basic facilities, the sports facilities here are very good. The library here is also amazing. This institute is famous for its research, and the facilities that are available for IT. Probably it is the best in the country.
Faculty: The facilities are among the best in their respective fields, and the entire learning experience is amazing here as some of the faculty might not be very good at teaching in a classroom, but if an individual shows interest they are always happy to help. For me, it's been a great experience.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty and good placement in 2017.
Placements: For placements, it is one of the best colleges in India. In my batch, around 90% students were placed in reputed companies in the world. And for seniors batch, the placement percentage was 85% to 90%. The highest package offered was around 1.2 crore per annum, and the lowest was around 6 LPA. The average package offered was around 12 LPA to 14 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of IIT, Madras is awesome and well developed. All hostels, departments and labs have fully unlimited internet connectivity. The classrooms are also well. There is a mess called Himalaya; it consists of 2 North Indian and 2 South Indian food. There are also 2 food courts. I never faced any infrastructure related issues.
Faculty: In IIT, Madras, professors are very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is awesome. The college not only concentrates on academics but also on extra curriculum activities. The student to faculty ratio is around 8:1. In academics, many industrial seminars are conducted.
