Yes, you can use scribe service in UCEED exam. The use of a scribe can be used by the candidate under the condition Candidates who have a disability and require assistance in operating the computer for Part-A of the examination Candidate has to upload a copy of the PwD certificate at the time of online registration for UCEED.

Do I need to pay any service charge when filling UCEED application form?

Yes, the candidate may have to pay the service charges, processing fees and/or any other charges that the banks may charge when filling out the UCEED application form. Note that this in addition to the application fee.

Further, the answer booklets of Part – B will be preserved ONLY for a period of three months from the date of declaration of the UCEED results. Part B answer booklets will be evaluated manually. The panel will have two expert evaluators who will do the evaluation separately and independently.

Can I transfer my UCEED counseling fee?

The counseling fee of UCEED is neither refundable nor transferable. So, when making the payment, the candidate needs to be sure about their participation. UCEED counseling will have five seat allotment rounds.

Will UCEED counselling be held for M.Des admission?

IIT Bombay will conduct the counseling process for UCEED for B.Des admission only. Candidates who have qualified in CEED exam need to apply directly to the participating college. Note that IIT Bombay will not conduct any Joint Admission Process for CEED . So, once CEED results are declared, go to the admission portal of the participating institutions for updates.

Can students from Commerce/ Arts or Humanities apply for admission to IIITDM Jabalpur through UCEED?

No, candidates from m Commerce, Arts or Humanities at 10+2 are not eligible to apply for BDes admissions at IIITDM Jabalpur. For admission to BDes at IIITDM Jabalpur, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology. The candidate is urged to carefully go through the detailed UCEED eligibility criteria before applying for admission.

How will scribes be allocated to the candidates for UCEED exam?

Exam officials will make the necessary arrangements through the test centre administrator (TCA) of the examination centre to provide a panel of scribes (amanuenses). Only such candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered for scribe services. Scribes will be students of Class XI. The PwD/Dyslexic (severe) candidate has to choose a scribe from this panel. The candidates are not be allowed to bring their own scribes.

Do I need to mention request for compensatory time in the UCEED application form?

If the candidate wishes to avail the services of a scribe and compensatory time, the same should be mentioned in the UCEED application form. The candidate is eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in Part A and 20 minutes for Part B. But note that the compensatory time for Part-A cannot be transferred to Part-B and vice versa. Upload the PwD certificate along with such requests in the given format.

When should I pay the UCEED seat-acceptance fee?

To avoid any last-minute unforeseen transaction issues, you should pay the seat acceptance fee for a round well before the end time/date of the corresponding round. If the fee is not paid within the given deadline, allotment will be cancelled. Also, such seats will be offered to the candidate next in the order of merit.

Will the UCEED seat-acceptance fee adjusted with the institute fees?

Yes, the seat-acceptance fee paid by the candidate will be adjusted against the institute fees of the admitting institute at the time of joining. In case the candidate declines the offered seat after remitting the seat acceptance fee, the refund of the seat acceptance fee will be done per the policies of the admitting institute. So, carefully go through the counseling process.

Where can I get hard copies of the UCEED scorecard?

IIT Bombay will not release any hard copies of the UCEED scorecard. The scorecard will be available online mode only. It will be released in the form of a downloadable pdf; you can download it from the official admission portal.

Which academic stream should I have studied in Class 12 to be eligible for UCEED exam?

Candidates from any academic stream are eligible to apply for UCEED exam. However, for admission to IIT Guwahati, it is mandatory for candidates to have passed Class 12 from Science stream. The candidate needs to carefully go through the eligibility criteria before they apply. This is because the candidate will not be considered for admission to the B. Des programme even if they get a rank in UCEED if they don't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Also, any candidate who is found to be using incorrect information about their eligibility stands to be disqualified if caught.

What is the minimum eligibility criteria to participate in UCEED counselling?

Eligibility criteria to participate in UCEED counselling are given below. Candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2002. Candidate must have qualified in UCEED exam. What is the process to take mock tests for UCEED?

If IIT Bombay conducts any mock tests for UCEED exam, it will be hosted online at uceed.iitb.ac.in. So, to take mock tests, candidate will have to go to the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal and click on mock test link. On clicking on the mock test link, a log-in window will open. The login ID will likely be prefilled. So, all you need to do is click on the log-in button to access the mock tests. After logging in, click on the “Start” tab to start the mock test.

Can I solve previous year's papers for UCEED?

Yes, you can solve UCEED previous year question papers. UCEED exam will have two sections - Part A and Part B. While the syllabus has been revised for the exam, there are still some topics that overlap. For instance, Part A still continues to have the Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Observation and Design sensitivity, and a few other topics from the various editions. So, candidates can use the previous years papers to practice these topics. For the other topics, the candidate can try out sample papers.

What is the UCEED seat-acceptance fee?

UCEED seat-acceptance fee for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates is INR 60,000. SC, ST, and PwD candidates only need to pay INR 15,000. The fee will have to be paid within the schedule notified by IIT Bombay. If the candidate fails to make the payment within the given deadline, then the allotment will be cancelled. Also, the seat vacated in such cases will be allocated to the candidate next in the order of merit.

Who can participate in UCEED counselling?

The counselling process for UCEED 2027 will be conducted by IIT Bombay as a Joint Seat Allocation process. To participate in UCEED 2027 counselling, the candidate must have qualified in the UCEED 2027 entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank. This means that if the candidate has failed to qualify Part A exam, he or she will not be allocated a merit rank, and therefore is not eligible to take part in the counselling process.

What is UCEED Entrance Exam?

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national-level exam conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to the B.Des program at the following institutes: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The UCEED exam is conducted once every year, usually in January.

Admission is based on UCEED merit. The candidate has to appear in the UCEED entrance exam, which is conducted by IIT Bombay. Merit lists for admission are prepared considering the marks of UCEED 2027. Also, the scores will be used to shortlist candidates for counseling. UCEED scores are also used by result-sharing institutes. However, the result-sharing institutes will use UCEED 2027 scores to fill available seats in their UG courses.

UCEED 2027 offers B.Des in seven institutes: IIT Bombay (IITB), IIT Delhi (IITD), IIT Guwahati (IITG), IIT Hyderabad (IITH), IIT Indore (IITI), IIT Roorkee (IITR), and IIITDM Jabalpur (IIITDMJ). UCEED 2027 Eligibility

IIT Bombay releases eligibility criteria for UCEED Entrance exam. Candidates need to meet the following conditions for admission to the B.Des program offered by the UCEED 2027 participating institutes.

UCEED 2027 Application Form

Application form for UCEED 2027 is open now. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for the B.Des program can apply before October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM. The candidate can apply for UCEED 2027 with regular and late fees. The late application fee will be around INR 500 along with the regular registration fees.

How to fill out the UCEED Application Form?

To get registered, the candidate have to follow these steps.

Online registration: Click on the registration link. You will be redirected to UCEED registration form. Fill in details like a valid email ID and mobile number. An applicant account will be created.
Fill in the form: The application form will have sections, like personal, academic, and contact details. Fill in all the sections. Candidates will also be required to select an exam city from the drop-down menu. Select the exam cities in the order of priority.
Upload documents: The candidate has to upload documents, like a photograph, signature, date of birth proof, and qualifying exam certificates in the prescribed format.
Pay the application fee: The fee has to be paid in online mode. The application fee for the OPEN category is INR 4,000 and INR. 2,000 for reserved category candidates

IIT Bombay will release the UCEED Syllabus on the website. The question paper will be of 300 marks. Part A will be a computer-based test and Part B will be pen-pencil based.

UCEED question paper will have two parts: Part A and Part B

UCEED Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates will be asked to report to UCEED examination centre at 7:00 am on Sunday, January 17, 2027, along with a printout of the Admit Card.
There will be biometric attendance at the centre.
Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre/hall after the start of the examination (9:00 AM).
Candidates must bring a valid photo identity proof (original) and the Admit Card to the examination centre.
Candidates must bring their own drawing materials, such as pens, pencils, sketch pens, and colours for the examination. They should not bring drawing sheets.

UCEED Final Answer Key for Part A will be out tentatively on Janaury 28, 2027. IIT Bombay will also release the draft answer key of UCEED 2027 in the third week of January 2027. Question paper for UCEED 2027 will be released alongside the answer key.

Draft answer key will contain the official answers to the questions asked in the entrance exam.
Candidate can use the keys to calculate probable scores.

UCEED 2027 Results

IIT Bombay will release the UCEED results for B.Des programmes in the first week of March 2027 for UCEED Entrance Exam 2027. The results will be declared online at the UCEED 2027 admission portal. To check the results, candidates need their registered email ID and password.

UCEED 2027 Scorecards will be available from the second week of March 2027. The last date to download the UCEED 2027 scorecard is expected to be July 31, 2027.

UCEED 2027 Cut-off

IIT Bombay will release the UCEED cutoff marks for Part A tentatively on February 05, 2027. The cut-offs are released in the form of mean and standard deviation. The mean and standard deviation for Part-A (UCEED 2026) are 70.86 and 25.77. UCEED Admission cutoff depends upon score, seats, reservation criteria, etc.

There will be seven participating institutes in UCEED 2027. Each of these institutes offers the B.Des course, with admission to be conducted based on UCEED 2027 merit. So, to be eligible for admission, the candidate needs to have secured a rank in the UCEED 2027 exam. UCEED Result-Sharing Institutes 2027

A few other institutes will also use the scores of the UCEED 2027 exam in addition to the participating colleges. These institutes are known as UCEED 2027 result-sharing institutes. These institutes will fill some of their undergraduate seats based on UCEED 2027 scores. The remaining seats may be filled considering other entrance exams, including exams conducted by the institutes. However, UCEED result-sharing institutes will not participate in the joint seat allotment process conducted by IIT Bombay.

UCEED 2027 Counselling

IIT Bombay will be conducting Joint Counselling for UCEED Entrance Exam. To participate in the counselling, candidates have to fill the B.Des Application form available on the UCEED Admission Portal. There will be a common application form for admissions to the respective B.Des programmes of the institutes. IIT Bombay will release the common application form and will conduct the joint seat allocation process.

UCEED Counselling Process 2027

Candidates must pay the fee before the deadline; otherwise, their application for the seat will be cancelled by UCEED.

Allotment of FIRST Choice Institute: If a candidate is offered his/her FIRST choice of the institute, the candidate can choose to ACCEPT (FREEZE) or DECLINE the offer. Note that if the seat is declined, the candidate will not be considered for seat allotment in any subsequent rounds. Also, the current allocation will be canceled.
Allotment of SECOND/THIRD choice of the institute - In this case, the candidate has two options before him/her: to ACCEPT (FREEZE) the choice or ACCEPT with the OPTION to be CONSIDERED for UPWARD MOVEMENT (‘float’) for subsequent rounds (if any).

They will NOT be considered for the subsequent round of UCEED seat allotment. The vacant seats will be offered to other eligible candidates to be filled during the subsequent rounds (if any) of seat allotment.
ACCEPT (freeze): If applicants are allotted their FIRST choice of institute, they have to either ACCEPT (freeze) the offer or DECLINE it. If the candidate chooses to DECLINE the offer, they will NOT be considered for subsequent rounds, and their current seat will be CANCELLED.

Q: Who can participate in UCEED counseling?

The counseling process for UCEED will be conducted by IIT Bombay as a Joint Seat Allocation process.

To participate in UCEED counseling, the candidate must have qualified in the UCEED entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank.
This means that if the candidate has failed to qualify Part A exam, he or she will not be allocated a merit rank and, therefore, is not eligible to take part in the counseling process.

Q: Will there be biometric verification for candidates at UCEED exam centre?

Yes, there will be biometric verification at the UCEED 2027 exam centre. The biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) will be collected from the candidate before the commencement of the exam. On exam day, the candidate needs to bring with them a valid photo id proof and the admit card. Note that the photo id proof must be in the original; photocopies will not be accepted.

Q: After submitting UCEED 2027 application fee, can I cancel the application form and get a refund?

No, candidates will not be given a refund for UCEED 2027 application fee under any circumstances. UCEED application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. So, before paying the application fee, the candidate needs to make up their minds whether they want to appear in the UCEED exam or not.

If you are appearing in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2027 you must ensure the following:

(a) all parts of their final examination are completed by the date of application for admission, and
(b) submit proof of having passed the qualifying examination with required eligibility by September 30, 2027 to the admitting institute.

Q: What are the important topics candidates need to prepare for Part A of UCEED?

UCEED question paper will have two parts: 1. computer-based Part A and 2. Drawing and aptitude based Part B.

Visualization and spatial reasoning: Ability to visualise and transform 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
Practical and scientific knowledge: Know-how of scientific principles and everyday objects.
Observation and design sensitivity: Capacity to detect concealed properties in day-to-day life and think critically about them. Attention to detail, classification, analysis, inference and prediction.
Environment and society: General awareness of environmental, social and cultural connections with design.
Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information.
Language: Proficiency in reading and comprehending Standard English.

Q: What do I need to know about the UCEED question paper?

The UCEED question paper will be of 3 hours and include two parts - The computer-based Part A and the offline-based Part B. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both the paper.

Also, Part B paper answer booklets will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A. IIT Bombay will release the cut-off marks for Part A before the declaration of results.

Part A will include the following types of questions: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Multiple Select Question (MSQ) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Part A will now include 57 questions.

Meanwhile, Part B will include 2 questions; this includes a sketching-based and an aptitide-based question.

Q: When will the admission notification for UCEED 2027 be released?

IIT Bombay released the admission notification for UCEED 2027 on October 1, 2026.

Q: How to register for the UCEED Counselling?

The 1st step of UCEED counseling is online registration. Candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam and have been assigned a merit rank in UCEED are eligible to participate in the counseling process.
The 2nd step is the selection of campuses. Eligible candidates must register for counseling and select their preferred colleges in order of priority during registration.
