GATE 2021 exam will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on February 6, 7, 13 and 14. With less than a month’s time left, students must look forward to finalise their preparation for GATE using the tips below.

GATE 2021: Last 20 Days’ Preparation Tips

With around 20 days left, candidates must revise the entire syllabus, attempt as many GATE 2021 mock tests possible and prepare the quick notes to go through all the formulas once. Along with these candidates need to take care of the following things as well:

  • Attempt as many GATE previous year question papers possible to know your weak areas if any left
  • Also, analyse your preparation level with GATE 2021 mock tests and know the areas in which you are facing difficulty.
  • If a good number of questions attempted by you are wrong, try to find the reason and solution to it
  • Try to use the virtual calculator so that you don’t face any difficulty with the same during the exam
  • From now on practice for studying in three hours slot as the time duration of the exam is also same
  • This is the right time to prepare short notes for topics/concepts and formulas so that you can revise the entire syllabus four or five days before the exam
  • Also, prepare flow charts and tables to remember important information
  • Eat healthy, give some time for outdoor physical activity, spend less time on screens such as mobile, television, laptop, etc. and try to get adequate hours of sleep

GATE 2021: What to do a week before the exam?

You need to take care of the following things a week before your scheduled GATE exam:

  • GATE 2021 admit card has already been released by the IIT Bombay on the official website. Make sure, you download it before the last date, i.e. February 4.
  • Take a look at the short notes, tables, flow charts and formulas for quick revision
  • If you are confused about any concept, this is the right time to clear your doubts
  • Do not stress out while studying and take frequent breaks as well
  • Take care of your diet

During the last few days before the GATE 2021, you must think positively. Either you already have done your revision or doing it which is fine. You must keep in mind that after all, it’s only an exam and not the end of the world. A positive attitude during these days will help you achieve what you are preparing for since last year or maybe more.

No, GATE questions are not exactly repeated. However, the concept, core, and question format may remain the same. Therefore, candidates must focus on concept-building and practice GATE PYQs as many times as possible. In addition, solve mock test paper to improve accuracy and time management.

Yes, GATE has negative marking for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. In GATE question paper, MCQs will be of one and two marks. Hence, the marking scheme for such questions can be checked below -

  • For one mark MCQ - 1/3rd mark will be deducted
  • For two mark MCQ - 2/3rd mark will be deducted

NHCE Bangalore accepts GATE score for admission to M.Tech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants can also get into M.Tech course based on their Karnataka PGCET scores. Selected candidates have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.

Candidates need to graduate from BTech at IIT Dhanbad with a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above to qualify for M.Tech admissions without GATE. Only the candidates who clear BTech from IIT Dhanbad are allowed admissions without GATE into M.Tech at II Dhanbad with the aforementioned score.

No, the GATE 2026 has already been concluded for IIT Dhanbad M.Tech admissions. The GATE 2026 registrations are closed in the month of October. Candidates who have appeared for GATE will need to wait for all merit-lists to be revealed.

The PhD admissions to the Institute Assistantship courses at IIT Guwahati require candidates to appear for the GATE or CEED. 

However, PhD admissions to the other categories of PhD courses at IIT Guwahati are not decided on the basis of the aforementioned entrance exams scores.
