JoSAA Colleges: Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTI)

There are a total of 33 GFTIs across India. These institutes/universities are run by the Government of India/State Governments/government organisations such as CSIR, ESIC, ICAR, MoHFW, DBT DST, ICMR, DAE, etc.

Q:   What is the lowest JEE Advanced rank that gets an IIT seat?
A:
The lowest Joint Entrance Examination Advanced rank which gets an Indian Institutes of Technology seat varies every year depending on the number of seats available and the number of candidates who have applied. It also depends on the category of the students like General, Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, EWS, and PwD. However, In JEE Advanced 2022, the lowest rank to get a seat was around 15000 for the Open category. Students from reserved categories or PwD candidates can secure a seat with a lower rank. It's important to note that getting a seat in IITs is highly competitive and the cutoff ranks for each category are subject to change from year to year. For more details, you may visit the Shiksha JEE Advanced page. (https://www.shiksha.com/engineering/jee-advanced-exam). I hope this will help you.
  • These institutes/universities are partially or fully funded by the government.
  • Admission to these institutes is done through JoSAA counselling on the basis of students’ JEE Main scores.
