JoSAA will release the seat allotment results on the candidates' individual JoSAA login portals. To view the results, candidates must log in using their JEE Main 2025 application number and JoSAA 2025 password. The seat allocation is based on the candidates' JEE Main/Advanced ranks, category, and the choices they have filled. Once a seat is allotted, the candidate must accept the allocation and select one of the following options for their academic programme choice in any subsequent rounds of seat allocation: 'Freeze', 'Slide', or 'Float'.
The JoSAA mock seat allotment is a preliminary list that provides candidates with an overview of their potential chances of admission. It allows candidates to make informed decisions and adjust their preferences before the final seat allotment process.
Candidates must lock their choices in JoSAA counselling after finalising them within the designated timeframe. The process of locking involves several steps after clicking the “Lock Choice” button, including agreeing to the terms, re-entering the password, and confirming the lock. Candidates should follow all steps carefully to complete the locking procedure.
Once choices are locked, they cannot be unlocked or modified. After locking, the system will automatically redirect candidates to their Home page. If candidates do not explicitly lock their choices by the deadline, their last saved choices will be automatically locked by the system.
Note: 'Saving' a choice is different from 'Locking' a choice. A saved choice can still be modified later, but once a choice is locked, it cannot be changed or saved again. Any modifications to a saved choice require re-saving, and the previous choice will be replaced. Locked choices are final and cannot be altered.

What is JoSAA Choice Filling?
The process of JoSAA choice filling involves the selection of institutes and programs for admission through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Registered candidates are required to provide their preferences for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, as well as the courses they wish to pursue. These choices must be arranged in order of the candidates' preferences. Seats are allocated to the candidates based on the choices they have locked and their order of preference, taking into account factors such as the candidate's rank, category, quota, and gender.
Candidates are advised to only fill in the choices they genuinely want to consider for admission. However, there is no restriction on the number of choices that candidates can fill from the available list.
Commonly asked questions
Once candidates have filled in their choices, they can manage them freely until the JoSAA choice locking date. This means they can remove, rearrange, or modify their choices as many times as needed before the deadline. Candidates can rearrange their choices by adjusting the choice numbers or easily swap options between different choices. Additionally, multiple choices can be selected at once for bulk deletion.
JoSAA choice management remains open until the final date specified in the JoSAA schedule. Once candidates lock and submit their choices as per the schedule, no further changes can be made throughout the counselling process. The seat allotment in each JoSAA counselling round will be based on the choices submitted by the candidates. If a candidate does not lock their choices by the given date, their most recently saved choices will be automatically locked and used for JoSAA seat allotment in all rounds.
Candidates are encouraged to fill as many choices as possible in order of preference to enhance their chances of securing a seat in the JoSAA allotment. candidates can fill maximum number of choices that is allowed in JoSAA counselling. The seat allocation is determined based on the choices made by the candidates, their category, and their JEE Main / JEE Advanced ranks, as applicable.
Once the specified end time for choice filling is reached, JoSAA automatically locks the choices. Prior to locking, you have the flexibility to edit, add, delete, and update your choices. However, after locking, you can only modify the preference order, but this option is typically available only after the first round of seat allocation.
Case: 1 Your rank is not so good but you have also filled the choices of the branches in very good NIT. In this case, it is not bad because you have no scope of getting these choices So they would not affect you in counselling.
Case 2: Your rank is good but you have filled the choices which you don't want to join or which are not so good or which you could easily get with less marks also. In this case, it would affect badly if you have filled these wrong choice above than that of your desired (or best) branch of the institute then there may be the case that you would be offered the seat in the choice which is placed higher and that may be the undesirable one. So fill up the choices carefully by placing the desired, best branches over the undesired and low valued branches.
